I finally bought some of those white LED flood lamps from Action Lighting.  I chose the larger PAR38 size with 70 LEDs in the lamp.  Boy were these pricey though, they are $114 for a case of 4 lamps, about $30 a piece once shipping is factored in. I chose the 35 degree beams instead of the 15 degree so I  can get better coverage on my garage door.

I bought these LED floods to replace the 2 standard hot flood lamps that I used last year to light my garage door that had that fancy mural on it that everyone is talking about., see it on my home page:

The set of 2 old flood lights from last year draw 1 total of 2Amps!  These new LED floods, the spec sheet says .05 amp!  But my Watts Up meter does not even register any current!  So what a power/fuse/temperature savings this will be and no more burnt hands from hot flood lights!

The picture below shows the new LED floods bathing my garage door with pure white light.  I think what I will do is use 3 of them, to fill in that dark spot in the middle of the garage door,  The light is pure white like snow.

The lamps are not quite as bright as the regular flood lamps which were slightly yellowish in tint, but you make trade offs in life.  I can place the new LED floods a foot or 2 farther from the garage door, and the light diffuses a little better so the hot spots are not as obvious.

Here is another shot of the LED floods in action, but this shot they were moved 6” farther back from the garage door.  Look for the subtle differences in from the previous shot.

I’ll post a shot I took of the bulb in the next response.

Here is the LED flood light turned on.  It actually looks very bright to look at, almost hurts your eyes.  But I set my Nikon’s light meter so that it would underexpose the shot to show you the details of the LEDs lighting up.

Here is the test setup.  For the final display setup, I'll add a 3rd flood lamp in the middle.

Ok, here is what it looked like last year with the old conventional flood lamps that I bought at Home Desperate.

Pretty nice. This year I splurged for the MR-16 LED spot lights. The colors are very brilliant and they give off almost no heat. They may be expensive, but they are worth it.
