LED's dont behave like the old Incandesents - L.E.D.s Read Only. No more posting. - PlanetChristmas! Forums. Read Only. We've moved to http://talk.planetchristmas.com - The Forums of PlanetChristmas have moved to http://talk.PlanetChristmas.com
The neighbor spent a fortune replacing his box rings 4 color yard for LED versions. The largest ring takes 29 strings of each color. These are home depot 50 LED lights. Well we notice not all of the same strings of the same color behave the same way when dimming, seems LED's dont dim all the way, they diminish to a point bit they all have differing "off levels" and when turning on rapidly, not all turn on together. Some strings have barely detectable delays. Or you can tell all in the series strings dont turn on at identicle times, add to it different dim tolerances, a rapidly flashing sequence can make the LED's look like they are malfunctioning in a big way.
Anyone else noticing this? BTW, the problem also effects GE, Walmart, Target, Philips, betheham full wave, etc.
I noticed this with the Menards lights I used last year. Only had one string of them on an LOR channel, but the two halves would sometimes go out at different times. Since this outlined a cross, it looked bad.
I'm adding 48 channels of solely LED's this year (Paul's variety) and haven't tested them yet, but I sure hope they behave better.
I had no problems at all with the LEDs I got LAST YEAR from Home Depot.
I have never had any problems with Paul's LEDs.
My recommendation: Don't buy LED's based on lowest price unless you just plan on plugging them in and leaving them. Many people here have reported saving a buck or two per string only to find that the lights aren't spaced right, they don't dim well, they're only half-wave, etc.
If you're going to pay more for LED's, don't rip yourself off by buying "almost" good quality strings.

The Menards LED's are actually some of the better looking ones I've seen in stores locally... Much nicer looking than the ones target has, for example...

I found the fix on here. If you put too many LED's on in one circuit, you get a capacitance... so if you put a regular non-led light, even just 1 bulb on the same channel, it clear the dimming, flicker and syncronous start issues.
