Can anyone reccommend what type and size boxes they are using to store their LED 70 CT christmas light strings.

I have approx 200 boxes of various led christmas light strings and wound like to store them more efficciently.  Yhe boxes that they came in are not holding up very well  and would like a more uniform way to store and protect my investment. --Greg--

I just roll them up and throw them into plastic bins.

The size of the bin depends on how much weight you are comfortable lifting. ;)

I roll them up in a ball and store them in  large garbage cans with wheels on them. I am too old to lift:laughing: things any more.

That's a GREAT IDEA! (Even if you're not old.)

I can't believe nobody else has thought of that! :]

I was faced with this dilemma last week with all  my lights for my Des Moines project.  What I ended up doing is I had spools from C9 strands and I used the empty spools to "re-spool" the LED stringers.  I  had even taken a picture of  the other wound up option that I didn't want to have to do.  I fit 1200 feet of stringer on that spool :)

When storing them in trash cans, be very careful not to leave them out by the curb:shock::laughing:

I go with the rolling them up in a ball and storing them in a plastic container. I can roll about 12-15 strings that way. Also can use 5 gal buckets. Sometimes the local bakeries throw away the buckets the cream cheese and other stuff come in. They might save them if someone asks. Learned the hard way, never  to store in cardboard boxes. RATS. I have an old chest freezer in the back of my shop. I stored 200+ sets of LEDs in that last year. No problems. This year most of the LEDs that are assigned locations get the plastic bins with location names and the new stuff go in the freezer until Christmas 2008 setup. I keep the flatten boxes until I use the lights for reference or return info. If you find hose reels cheap in late summer, use them. Just plugs the strings into each other and unplug into sets of three when you go to using them the next year.

What I use are the extension cord reels. I usually get about 5 strings of 100 lights on each reel and I label them where they go. When I store then, they stack nicely and will not tip over. When I go to put them up the following year, they unroll real easy. Hope this helps.

Here's how I do it! Last night I took down all the lights on the front of my house. 5k+ It took less than an hour. Including getting the lights down, (most of which were tie wrapped), getting out my winder, and getting everything ready.
