Wow, I thought I was finished, then I found an extra 16 channel LOR card still in the box!!!

I know there is a lot of data on Mega Trees out there and I have been searching... but has anyone used only 16 channels to control a mini tree?  I was thinking of using a 8-10ft Steel pipe driven into the ground, and the having 8 slices (2 colors each), and putting that under control...  Anyone done something similar?  If so I'd like to hear suggestions...  biggest question, if I don't put a star on top, what is the best way to manage the lights as they cross the top......

Thanks

Jim

I have 10 10' 1 1/4" PVC trees, have used the same method for three years now. First, theres just a little stob driven into the ground of a base, and 50lb test monofilament fishing line comes down 4 ways (in duplicate, you know, up and back) for stability. The lights of course go up and down, and are secured with the line by a 12" nail sticking down the center of the pvc. I just normally seperate one of the wires and slip it over the head of the nail - stays on no problem.

Jim,

I am controlling my 10 ft tree with only 6 channels this year. I have a how to video on how I made this tree and it shows how I placed the strands across the top. To see the video go to http://www.christmasdisplays.net/instructionalvid.htm

You will find the mega tree video there along with several others.

I am using 6 channels, and a 150 strand on each channel, so if my math serves me correctly which I am terrible at. I used 900 lights for my entire tree, I will soon have a video up of my entire display.

I think for next year I am going to go up another 10 ft and make it 20 ft, and I am also going to take 3 150 light strands and braid them together to make one large strand for each channel.

Logan!

I just watched your mega tree video also!  THANK YOU!!  You are my hero!  Been searching the web for "how to's" and had little luck finding help with the basics.  Wishing you and yours Happy Holidays and a very Merry Christmas!
