Here is a picture of my display from 2007.  I wanted to know if anyone had any ideas on how to improve it.

well, i'd say the most obvious thing to start with would be expanding to the 2nd floor...  got lots of windows that you could outline, plus the roofline (can't see in your picture) could use some icicles to match the lower level.

Just brainstorming:
  • Lit wreaths in the windows
  • Outlining the windows
  • Outlining the corners of the building, including the corner posts of the window bays
  • Second floor window outlines, wreaths, etc

Don't know if you are animated or not, but if so, possibly some of these:

  • Rope light on the step faces, with each step as a channel

  • Multiple colors on some of the light elements

Is there any kind of theme or feel you want to generate?

do you have a lawn at all?  can't tell from the pic.

I would put icicle lights on the second floor roofline, outline the windows and outside line of the entire home.

No I don't have a lawn.  My front yard is only 6ft wide.  Out lineing the entire house may not work, the power lines are attached to the house on the front

I would definately put some icicles on the left windowto match the right one. Maybe use the ones over the door and put swags on the door with the ribbon or star on it.

I would do the upstairs windows with minis, or at least have something hanging on them such as a wreath or something. The door looks like it could use some color.

Lights, lights, and oh....more lights!  The more lighting the better.  You may have to experience a bit to find which areas need which colors but outline everything you can and just when you think you've covered it all, do some more, LOL!
