I thought spring was finally coming.  I finally got all the cords out of the front yard and was going to get the rest of the lights off the house today since I finally had a safe place to put the ladder, but..........we got another four inches of snow this morning.    GRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!
Also attached are a couple pictures of why I still don't have all my stuff down yet.

The first shows my carousel still encased in about 4 inches of solid ice.  And also several blowmolds where I could get the figure out but the cord is still entombed.

I didnt know snow is so persistent... my family in michigan says snow there rarely stays over 2 weeks in any season without some mid January thaw or etc that clears it all out periodically... maybe its heat island effect of an urban area.

The ocean and gulf surrounding us in Florida is reasonably cool in upper 60's/low 70's... makes perfect weather to go months and months without requiring either air conditioning or heat and last month had the lowest energy bill in 4 years (partly thanks to my little reduce global warming effort by hanging clothes to dry and not use dryer).   Saving about $2 per load, amazing how well hanging clothes to dry can have a profoundly noticable savings on electric bill.  Over the course of last year my hanging clothes effort saved almost twice as much as a 1 season conversion to LED christmas lights would save in carbon and electric costs.

To give an idea, last year at this time we had a $140 electric bill, last month is was $41.

Depends where you live as to the snow sticking around. In southern Michigan we usually get a snow storm then a thaw a week or 2 later, rinse, repeat. In northern Michigan it is not uncommon for the snow to stick around all winter and just keep piling up on itself. Even when it gets warmer for a few days, the snow will not all melt. I'd assume its the same way for him in New Hapmshire.

I hope the weather will remain that you can make due without air conditioning in the car. I hate loosing the rather sizeable boost in gas mileage I get when its off.

No snow here anymore, thankfully ... but the windchill was -1- degree F this morning.

It should be mid 60's later this week ...

OMG ... I still have about 7000+ lights on the roof and I just finished filling the 10' pool.  Ran the AC the other day.  They say it's supposed to rain tomorrow then sunny again for the weekend.  Hmmm...suddenly living in the snow just doesn't sound so appealing

I'm done!  Finally had a chance to get up on the roof and get the 5,000 lights up there down!  And it's only Easter.

Since I read this thread a few weeks ago, I've noticed a lot of lights still on houses nearby. Most are old and covered with cobwebs but one set a few houses down is a white swag style and the occopants have been lighting them up lately. They may have even put them up recently as I don't remember seeing them last month.

They do look good though.

I have colored lights up in my office at home and some white lights in the trellis around my deck. That would be nice if I could put some up in front year-round to light my yard and my house wihout looking too over-the-top.

I must agree its way past time to put them away. the other thing is i have a 30 or so foot tree out side and ive left the lights on there 3 years now as an l.e.d test.....lol, no really a test how long they well last and what has happened to them, well they are coming down sunday as well. I'd take a photo but im to embarrassed too.
