Whats the difference between these controllers - Lights, Lights, Lights! Read Only. No more posting. - PlanetChristmas! Forums. Read Only. We've moved to http://talk.planetchristmas.com - The Forums of PlanetChristmas have moved to http://talk.PlanetChristmas.com
I want to go animated next year and i was looking at these 2 controllers one is d-light and the other is light orama. Can someone tell me what the better deal is because i have no idea on how these things work.
The only difference in your links would be the metal enclosure. The link terrypowerz provided looks almost identical to the DL kit except that you have to install the wires and the board into the box, but this is pretty easy and only takes about 40 minutes.
I wish DL would provide a demo of their software....maybe you could request one
Thanks for the help. Ill do a little more research I was just looking for the cheaper/more effective option. If I got the DL version what kind of enclosure would i have to make if it was kept in my garrage? Also what about the software is the DL software as user firendly as the light o-rama

I put my controllers in the yard near the lights (don't tell the local sticky fingered kids, please). I use black, plastic battery boxes (from Wal-Mart). They controller board isn't even "mounted," it's just in the box. Pretty simple, and they are not visible, especially once it gets dark. Been through many rainy days with no moisture intrusion. No snow, though.
If you are putting them in a garage, say mounted to a wall, then you don't need enclosures at all. Mount them high, out of reach, and put strain reliefs on the wires to keep any load off of the connections. Pretty Simple, again.
Or, you can buy metal or plastic Primex style boxes.
