this is the closer equiv. unit to the D-light

The first LOR unit you posted the link for is their heavy duty unit in a metal enclosure.

They will both control the lights the same and do the same effects!

This has been discussed quite a bit previously, and both companies have loyal users so to ask which is "best" always opens a can of worms! :P

My suggestion: Browse both companies websites, shoot them an email to ask a few questions, check out their "forums"

A little research ahead of time so you will get that "warm and fuzzy" when you make your purchase! ;)

The only difference in your links would be the metal enclosure.  The link terrypowerz provided looks almost identical to the DL kit except that you have to install the wires and the board into the box, but this is pretty easy and only takes about 40 minutes.

I wish DL would provide a demo of their software....maybe you could request one

Thanks
Greg

Thanks for the help.  Ill do a little more research I was just looking for the cheaper/more effective option.  If I got the DL version what kind of enclosure would i have to make if it was kept in my garrage? Also what about the software is the DL software as user firendly as the light o-rama

Enclosures can be very simple to very elaborate.

I put my controllers in the yard near the lights (don't tell the local sticky fingered kids, please). I use black, plastic battery boxes (from Wal-Mart). They controller board isn't even "mounted," it's just in the box. Pretty simple, and they are not visible, especially once it gets dark. Been through many rainy days with no moisture intrusion. No snow, though.

If you are putting them in a garage, say mounted to a wall, then you don't need enclosures at all. Mount them high, out of reach, and put strain reliefs on the wires to keep any load off of the connections. Pretty Simple, again.

Or, you can buy metal or plastic Primex style boxes.
