This year will be our 1st show, we're sequencing for 64 channels of LOR.

Our question is - how many songs do people usually have to make up a 'show'.

We will be having the music on from 8pm-9pm, then going to car-radio only. It doesn't go dark until 8pm, and we really don't want to disturb our neighbours too late at night (unfortunately they are J.Witnesses, so they won't be getting into the christmas thing).

We're currently thinking along the lines of 15 to 20 minutes (just 4 - 6 songs) repeated 3 or 4 times. I'm thinking most people would want to watch for 10-15mins and then move on.

How long do people usually go before repeating - or don't they repeat?

Thanks

Robert & Wendy.

I had about 7 songs but they were edited down to around 2 mins each so my "show" was for about 12 mins. Many peope would stay a good 20 mins or more sometimes and watch it twice. When it got closer to Christmas and traffic was starting to get heavy, I had to cut it down to only 3 songs to try and clear people out faster.

I think a 10 to 12 minute show is reasonable.....I usually edit my songs down to about 1 min 30 to 45 seconds each if possible....Then i can get 5 or 6 songs out of it..... Last year was my first LOR year as well.....Visitors will pick up as word spreads around....I found that cars pulling up often intimidated others watching the show and the ones watching a long time would leave...but id see them back later.... I had fun just watching the cars...

Last year I had 8 songs (64 channel) for a total of 23 minutes for Christmas then I added 1 more after Christmas (Auld Lang Syne). We actually had people sit through 2 shows! This year I'm trying to get 13 done (96 channel). I've got 2 done:shock: and 6 more started.  I still have a lot of work to do....

This year I'm running 9 songs - around 22 min. that loop from 5:30 till 10:30. If things get to crazy I'll add static intermission between  shows.

15 to 20 minutes is good, and I just keep repeating it from 5:30 to 10:30, 11:00 on weekends. If traffic backs up I will make the show 10 minutes or less. I'm thinking about playing differant songs on differant days. Maybe I'll trow in a non Christmas song as the last song for the night.

Last year my 1st year with LOR I have 80 channels and I ran 16 songs, I broke them up over different nights with a lot of the faster more up beat songs on the weekend.

I found people would stay Thur 2 sets of the songs. This year I'm adding More static songs in between my musical songs to help brake up some of the traffic. I think a good average would be about 15 to 20 min. sets.:smilingelf:

After adding up all the sequences I've done; I realized I've got close to 45 minutes!

So, am planning on doing two shows, one on even # days, the other (better one?) on odd # days.

We are a little different to most shows. We find that here in Perth, Western Australia a combination of Sync and Static display really appeals to a lot of our visitors. We use our garage as Sanata's Grotto and welcome visitors to wander through the gardens. So we play the usual festive background music most of the time and every half hour we crank up the 96 Channels on the roof to the TSO or some other favorite sequenced Christmas tune. We have 24 sequences averaging around 3 to 4 mins and find that folks keep coming back on different nights to check out all the tunes. This is a great way to gauge what is rated etc.

For Rob & Wendy, I'd be happy to pass on and share ideas.

This will be our first year.  We have 128 channels and have finished 6 songs.  We plan to keep the show short and just run 2 songs per night and mix them up as the week goes by.  A display around the corner had huge traffic every night and we want to keep traffic moving.

Another question. Do you put a gap between the cluster on songs, or do you just let them keep running ?
