Note: Due to popular demand, I'm spinning this thread off of the original North Poles thread. And yes, this belongs on "Toot Your Horn" because it's going to be pretty neat when it's done (IMO).
Here's the idea:
In case you haven't been following along, I'm working on a new project for the 2008 display. Gary Slater (Toymakr000) is helping me with some of the mechanical implementation.
Before I reveal what it is, I thought it would be fun to see if anyone has any guesses. (We might even get some other good ideas for other projects through this "collective brainstorming" process.)
I'll be adding new photos and dropping some hints along the way. Here's your first clue: What is THIS thing?
Maybe its a security device that will through Chuck's north poles at people who walk into Chuck's yard. The concrete in those beauties could kill somebody...

Perhaps this is the device for that, it's just laying on it's side...
That's a good point. Don't assume that any of the pictures I'll be posting will be oriented in their final position. It's also a good point because some of the stuff I show might work well in orientations other than how I'm using it.
NEW PHOTO and if you tell me ill give you richard H's 22 million dollars he enherited from the bank of nigeria!
(btw my guess is its going to stay the same way it looks in the picture (on its side) and your going to place it in your yard with a big pole on it so as its running it constantly knocks on that neighbor who hates your lights door.

In this photo, we have two 10' sections of 4" PVC secured with two pieces of 5/8" threaded rod. The piece of wood under them is actually one of the sides to the thing in the first picture and is more or less where it will be when completed.
(I listen to Car Talk every week so I'm good at "obfuscating" things! )
