Concerns with LED lights - Synchronizing Light Shows. Read Only. No more posting. - PlanetChristmas! Forums. Read Only. We've moved to http://talk.planetchristmas.com - The Forums of PlanetChristmas have moved to http://talk.PlanetChristmas.com
I'm getting ready for my 2008 display and bought 90% of my lights as LED's. My concern is that I'm reading that people are having problems with their lights being constantly on and they're having to tack on a set of the old lights in order to get everything to work. Is this a software issue or a firmware issue with the boards? How much do I need to be concerned with this issue for next December?

Thanks,

as far as D-light-----I had 5 channels 100% led's and only had one channel I had issue with it not turning them off......just plugged a 2 bulb C-9 stand I made and it solved the issue...Seems it just wants a little more power pull..Ironically that Led strand was the same one as 3 of the other channels that had no issue.
With D-Light controllers, I had no problem with 4, 5 or 6 strands of C6 LEDs on a single channel. But, when I plugged in the 7th strand, it didn't always obey the commands, and when I plugged in the 8th and 9th strand on that same channel, they just went on solid.
They were all Blue, so I plugged in 3 C9 bulbs and all 9 strands ran flawlessly for the next month.
If a single strand seems to act improperly, try rotating the plug. Half-wave strings can be touchier than full-wave.
So, my questions for you is - how many strands do you plan to put on a single channel?
ps, Strobes act odd also when you put a lot of them on a single channel. The more you have, the longer they delay turning off after the power is turned off. It's the capacitors inside of them. Add some C9 bulbs and they work better, though they will never go off instantaneously.

The only time I have ever encountered a problem is with multiple strings- 8,9 or more. i have never had problems with a string or two. I had a tree wrap with 7200 leds on 3 channels and fades could only work properly after I added a c9 to each channel.
Its not how many channels, its how many strings on an individual channel. The only problem I had with mine is when i exceeded a certain mumber of strings on a channel they wouldnt fade properly. .I fixed it by building terminators like the ones described here > http://crazylightlady.us/TerminatorsHow-To.html
