Last year we had 48 mini trees in a circle.

http://youtube.com/watch?v=ybOxkWQUJnU

This year I'm going to make a square of 6 rows with 8 tree in each line.

Has anyone ever made shapes with your trees that are in this pattern?

like a cross

smile face

a bigger tree.

letter that spell out a word? just like it was a digital sign.

etc.

Sounds like a good idea, but I would think that the trees would need to be arranged on a slope or somehow elevated so that ou could see the pattern/design from eye level.  Otherwise, I would be afraid that someone couldn't see the design unless they were above the display.

We have the trees on a walkway. So you are above the trees.  Hope it works.

Just wondering if anyone has tried it before.

I haven't tried it, but it sounds like a cool idea.  I made a stream and bridge last year.  It looked good from the rod, but great from the roof!  Unfortunately I was the only one on the roof.

I would do a test of what you are thinking to see if it is worth you time.  If it is go for it! :]
