Here is a picture of the Santa's Best Winnie the Pooh on a blue log with the original box and tags that I got last weekend. From the information on the box I found out that Winnie was born in 1998 in Mexico. Sometime after June 19, 1998 when his box was made he traveled to Lubbock, Texas for a couple of months before moving to Manchester,Conn. . He must of not liked it there so on Sept. 1, 1998 he moved again this time to Derby, Conn. .  From there he finally found a home in West Haven, Conn. where he stayed for almost 10 years before I got him. It was very informative to find all the shipping labels for him and all the places he was at before I received him.

That is pretty cool that you got the history on him.  I can't believe it has been that long since he first came out.

This sounds very cool but I'm having a little trouble seeing the picture.  Could it possibly be because you forgot to post it?  ;)

I believe I'm correct in remembering that there are 2 different paint schemes.  I'm guessing that it's blue log and some other color log.  I have a Winnie the Pooh but I'm not sure what color the log is.  (It came from Kmart.)

Brown log, isn't it? I have the blue one, and it wasn't until recently that I even noticed that it was a log. I guess I thought Pooh was sitting on an iceberg or something.

Ted,

Yes, there are two color schemes of the log for Winnie the Pooh, a blue log and a brown log variation.  Santa's Best first made him in 1998 and JC Penney sold him through their Christmas catalog that year.  Apparently the blue log version was made first and sometime during the years between 1998 and 2003, when Santa's Best quit making blow molds, the color of the log was changed.  Dan's Winnie the Pooh has the blue log.  I have been told that the brown log version is a bit more difficult to find, but neither of them are rare, both colors come up on eBay a few times each year.  It was interesting to me that the 1998 JC Penney catalog shows him sitting on a brown log, but the one Dan received in the dated box from 1998 has a blue log.  Both the 2001 & 2002 Santa's Best catalogs show him on a brown log.  We purchased one of the brown log ones from K-Mart the day after Christmas 2003.

A little bit of blow mold trivia...Santa's Best introduced their first blow molds in 1995 and discontinued them in 2003, a period of nine years.  Grand Venture introduced their first blow molds in 1997 and discontinued them in 2005.  a period of nine years.

Mel
