I just got my donation box and it looks very cool. I need to get the candy cane effect. The box/post already came powder coated red, so I need to tape off and spray a white. Since it is powder coated, I was wondering what the best paint would be to spray (I have an HVLP sprayer) for the long run. I won't want this to be chipping and peeling in a few years. Suggestions?

At work we have all our stuff powder coated from the factory then if a customer needs it a certain color we paint it. Treat the powder coating as primer and scuff it good wit scotchbrite and paint it. We normally paint the whole thing and not just stripes. if I were you I'd paint the whole thing both colors.

Gary, what sort of paint would you recommend? Acrylic?

Instead of getting all high tech with the hvlp gun I would just use Krylon or Rustoleum "better quality" spray cans unless the box is the size of a car:laughing:
Paint your base color first then your stripes after a couple days of drying. Use a few
thin coats too keep from running sagging or crazing.

If you do use the HVLP use some decent enamel, the type you thin with mineral spirits not water base acrylic.

good luck
