Video Sharing Coop - VENDOR - Animated Lighting Odds and Ends Read Only. No more posting. - PlanetChristmas! Forums. Read Only. We've moved to http://talk.planetchristmas.com - The Forums of PlanetChristmas have moved to http://talk.PlanetChristmas.com
I thought that I would start out the Video Sharing Coop with listing some of the songs that I have planned for this year. Then anyone interested in participating in our Video Coop can tell me if they are interested in any of them. The songs are as follows:
1. All I Want for Christmas Is You- by Mariah Carey. She has a pretty good music video that I plan to use.
2. Merry Christmas Happy Hollidays- by N Sync. They also have a pretty good music video that I plan to use (it needs some editing).
3. God Bless the USA- By Lee Greenwood. I plan to use a photo slide show of various patriotic slides and a video of a flag waving.
4. From a Distance- By Bette Midler. I plan to use a photo slide show of my family.
5. All I want for Christmas is Somebody to Love Me- Britany Spears. Video Not Yet Planned.
6. Mr. Santa- Artist Unkown (To the tune of Mr. Sandman). Video Not Yet Planned.
7. Texas Christmas- Artist Unknown. I plan to use a video slide show of all things Texas.
This is about half of the songs that I have planned for this year. I will update with more later.
The song Mr. Santa is performed by Amy Grant. I'm not sure if any other artist has recorded the song. Not sure about any video.
I'd like to be involved with this but I am still waiting for the second AL class to learn how to program my first show!! I think this will be way over my head this year.
Hey we are having a ball working up story boards for our videos. I can tell selection of future songs for the display will now be influenced by the "video factor".
We are brain storming many ideas for this new medium. We started thinking, the kids associated with our 3 house display...between us and neighbors and 3 and 4 kid families, why not make the kids "actors" in the videos. Adults would look corny but the kids dancing to music and with special video effects now available for computers. Get this concept. We got this new 2006 song by a band called Her, the Song is Have a Pyschadelic Christmas... real catchy dancable song, very 1969 hippy sounding. Dress the kids up like hippies, put long hair afro wigs on the kids and take dozens of shots from different angles of the kids dancing to the song separate and all together in front of my video projector playing colorful psycadelic visualizers on the video projector for a backdrop. Splice together many scenes in tune with the music and then assemble the video with After Effects. On the storyboard I think this will be an awesome and cute as can be video that makes the "kids" of the display the stars! The kids here are excited as at Christmas time they are the most popular kids in school already, wait until they are stars of numerous videos.
Just some ideas for you parents that want to get your kids involved in this hobby!
That's a good idea on the video. That thought came to me the other day and I bet it looks cool.
Well here is my partial list for videos:
1. Must be Santa by Brave Combo from their It's Christmas Man Album
2. Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer, It's a Small World and Merry Christmas Darling by Rockapella off of their Comfort and Joy Album
3. The Linus and Lucy song. Maybe do some video from the Charlie Brown show???
4. This Christmas by Yutaka off of the GPR Christmas Collection Album
5. Twelve Days of Christmas, have not really found the right song yet (any ideas???). Want something up beat and will probably do something similar with the video like in Must be Santa.
Now I just have to keep remembering to also give myself time to program the lights... So many songs so little time.
I was thinking the same thing on the Linus and Lucy song.
Every year I start out with the intention to retire this song, but the kids love it so much that in the end I bring it back every year. I have a feeling that the same thing is going to happen this year.
Well we "may" decide to share videos of ours for each other's displays. Sequence and video combo, of course it will take expert adapting to adapt each other's sequences to our displays. Easier done with 16 or 32 circuit displays then our 128 to 256 circuits but can be done. Really have to go thru the conversion second by second as if programming from scratch to make it look ideal for our own displays
I'll get a list of my songs up shortly, I have such a large playlist I cant remember all my songs off hand without opening up AD but I'll get them posted here within the week.
Hey anyone have Carson William's e-mail. I run my own rendition of Wizards in Winter and I thought, wouldnt it be cool to play carson's display video synchronous to my own rendition? Carson's is ever recognizable to the audience and its one that due to popularity, runs every 1/2 hour while less popular songs play once every 1.5 hours on my display. I wanted to ask permission from Carson before proceeding with this idea.

Ken
Drew just wrote me and said they just completed an AL animated logo for us, they are also doing alpha channel versions (where backgrounds go transparant for chroma-key style overlays) and also smaller corner logos like a lot of cable TV channels put. Didnt get a link yet but sounds like we should have support for these things from Animated Lighting any day now!

Yeah!
Still waiting on the AL logos for video, but besides this:
The copy/paste message below is a response from Carson Williams when I asked permission to use his video of his wizards in winter while my lights do my house simultaniously, I would presume his permission is extended to everyone else who'd like to do the same thing I plan with their WIW displays:

Joe,
I don't check planetchristmas.com very often, so I apologize for my delayed response.
I do not have a problem with you using the video on your show. I love your show and the man different things you do. I love the dancing man!!
Thanksarson

What happened? You completely dropped off the face of the earth as far as Planet Chrsitmas is concerned. No one has heard from you here since last March.
Hey I was wondering. We recently acquired the ability to play "video" in sync with music and lights on the Animated Lighting area (play an MPG instead of MP3 and wallah, get video along with the song and it full screen video output to second monitor on computer). I was wondering, I did an honorary Wizards of Winter sequence in tribute to your display and what I was thinking of doing for next year is play a video of YOUR famous house video while the song and my lights are going. People can see a 7 ft screen on the wall of YOUR house projected while my lights are and music are keeping perfect sync with the video.
I wanted to ask for permission to play this video of your Wizards in Winter synchronous with my display.

Here is a link to one of my first videos done. I am not sure if I am happy with it or will try again, but maybe this might inspire people on what can be done with synchronous video. I am also the actor in the video.
I watched the video. I have a couple of questions for you.
1) Did you green screen yourself onto the video tracks
2) Why the double image on the guitar player
Yea I got a large green screen from Amvona.com
I dont know why with the double vision, I seen someone else to that and it came out cool... was trying to do the same effect. Its maybe or maybe not the video I'll use, its a rough draft to learn how to do this type of video effects. Entire video took me about 2 hours to tape, edit and upload. The video was made with 4 layers, preedit with after effects and 2 effects thru Studio 10.7.
I have started posting some of the videos that I have found and am considering using for this year. You can view them at http://www.christmasatthegoods.com/test. If there is any that you like, let me know and I can share the mp3 file for programing purposes.
Good job I like the one with Bing. I have a couple videos done myself but lack a place to post them. Would you be willing to post the videos for the coop? If not I understand I'm looking at getting some kind of web site up but just haven't gotten to it yet. If you don't mind me asking who do you use to host your site and are you happy with them?
