Paulm and I are pleased to announce the continuation of our On Line Training Classes for Animated Lighting's Animation Director.  Class No. 3 will be held on March 2nd at 8:00 PM CST (9:00 p.m East Coast and 6:00 p.m. West Coast).  This class will cover "Putting It All Together."

Class No. 1 covered the set up of the sofware and Visualizer.  Class No. 2 covered an overview of all of the available features.  Both of these classes were recorded and are available for streaming or download at:    http://www.ChristmasAtTheGoods.com/training.

It is our intention for Class No. 3 to cover advanced programing.  In addition, we will be talking about how to alter Animated Lighting's stock songs to give your show a custom feel.  Further, we will discuss how to share a sequence and how to import a sequence and set it up for your show.  Finally, we will be discussing how to use Mike's Animated Moving Co.  which is a utility that we have touched on a little that allows you to insert a track for chasing.

There is NO cost to attend the class (unless you have to pay long distance charges to connect to the conference call).  The meeting will be hosted at http://www.GoToMeeting.com.  We will send an invite (to everyone that has responded with interest) by email a day or two before the meeting.  The email will have a link to click on (or to copy and paste to your browser) as the meeting is set to start.  Next, the email will have a phone number to allow you to call into the conference call for the audio part of the meeting.  If you have a flat rate phone plan, then the call will also be free or if you have unlimited cell phone minutes you may choose to use that alternative as well.

If you would like to attend this class, please send a PM to Paul Madden.  His user name is paulm.  He has graciously agreed to keep track of everyone who would like to attend.  He will need your email address.  If we have more interest than spots we will set up a second session soon after this one.

If you have any suggestions for the class, please do not hesitate to contact Paul or myself.

Ken

Ken, Paul,

I want to apologize for not signing on tonight's Class No3. I had been kindly confirmed & notified accordingly by Paul. I run a B&B Inn and of course Guests tend to show up when I have something else scheduled. But that's the nature of things of course. I am right now reviewing all sessions 1 and 2 and I will do accordingly wirth session 3 which you will also hopefully record. I am actually downloading the sessions since I cannot afford to repeatedly access then "live" (FAP kicks in on my HughesNet satellite system).

I do not know how else to thank you for this, except say THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR YOUR WORK here. I finally now realize how the AL system works.

I'll continue to diligently frequent the forum. NOTE: seems that AL is conducting some training itself in Fla!

- Roger Thomas

Here, Here.  I second that motion.

It was a great class, even down right funny at times.

Hey Ken, I have Windows Vista now and on one of the screens it said that Go To Meeting will not work on windows vista. Do you know when that problem will be taken care of. I would like to see your classes.

We contacted http://www.gotomeeting.com and asked them about this and they sent a very nice response saying that they had essentially not done anything to become compatible while Vista was in beta testing, but now that it was out, they would be moving to fix this issue in the near future.  I searched their site to see if there was an update on this issue and found nothing.  You may try installing the gotomeeting codec (http://www.gotomeeting.com/codec) and see if it works.  If it does not uninstall it and try again in a few weeks.  If it works let us know.

It looks like their website is not acknowledging that this is an issue.  If you search for Vista on their site, you pull up nothing.  So it may be fixed and we just do not know it.

Give it a try and let us know.

Ken

In the training I heard one unanswered question (I think).

POP FADE rate and FADE rate, do you need both for a POP FADE ?

POP FADE will fade at the POP FADE RATE until it hits the next column time.

example: If your POP Fade is 1 second  and the next column is in .5 seconds, the POP FADE will terminate at .5 seconds (the next column time).

If you set FADE RATE equal to POP FADE rate the effect will carry through its full fade regardless of the next column time.

Always use FADE RATE with POP FADE to get exact fade times regardless of the next column time.

Use only the POP FADE if you want your fade to terminate at the next column time - good for tight fast chases.

Save often (as different revs)-

It is an excellent habit to always save your routine (and viz) before and after a major portion of work. ALWAYS save as a new revision so you can go back, if needed. Save as show_rev1, show_rev2 etc.

I'll have 30 - 40 saved revisions on a routine by the time I finish it.

Hope this helps, looking forward to class 4!!!

-Glenn
