I want to say a special thanks to Ken Good, Joseph Ayo, and Paul Madden for all the answers and post on using video.

My display has been running since Thanksgiving, I just got the video up and running two days ago, it has been a big hit so far.

I still have a flicker between routines and some of the routines end before the last video frame is finished, but all in all it is pretty cool

How is everyone else's using video going?

Mine is running great. Obviously your grid is ending before that last frame is shown. You are playing live off the computer so take your LAST column and change the timeframe on it to continue playing long enough for that last frame to play..  I presume you are talking about the intermission between songs screen.   That needed tinkering on my part too.

Yeah I have gone in and added enough time to the routine for the video frame to finish.

The flicker is when the routines are changing from one to another. It is just a flicker and you have to be looking right at the screen to see it. I decided to not try and mess with that right now before I mess something up.

I still wish there was a way to do away with the 3 sec. countdown at the beginning of routines. I saw where someone posted that there was no 3 sec. countdown running in MB simulation, but my video wont work in MB simulation.

I believe I was talking with a someone  who believes Animated Lighting is working on a future update on Animation Director and official support for video is being worked on for future updates.  What would be nice is our video screen that pops in front of the grid making it difficult to work with video during grid creation might get a special thumbnail position in the upper right hand side of the screen or something like that so we can work directly with MPG's instead of working on mp3's and then switching to MPG at show time.

I think if you've ever dealt with a malfunction in the middle of a song (breaker throws in middle of song) well that 3 second delay I think is necessary to reset all the LC's and ELD's so they work 100% perfect again on second song.  I wish there was a way to hand insert "reset commands" whereever we get a dark spot within a song so it gets LC's reset while a song is playing. This could be a great addition too!

I intentionally put off the video portion of my display until Christmas Eve after I crashed my home computer.  I could not have been more pleased with the result.  I am afraid that the video addition caused my traffic to be even worse on Christmas Eve since people decided to stay even longer.  I got an email from someone that said as they were leaving they counted almost 50 cars waiting to get to our house.

I used several of the videos from the VideoCoop.  I took the Rudoph one and re-edited it and put my own music under it.  I used Linus reading quoting Luke and I made a couple of my own that I have now posted onto the Coop.  I could not have bee happier with the result.  I liked it very much and will definitely do it again.

I also got my first neighbor complaint this year.  But it was from a neighbor one cul de sac over.  She could not get into her garage two nights before Christmas because of all the traffic.

Ken
