Channels 8-15 NOT WORKING :( - VENDOR - Animated Lighting Odds and Ends Read Only. No more posting. - PlanetChristmas! Forums. Read Only. We've moved to http://talk.planetchristmas.com - The Forums of PlanetChristmas have moved to http://talk.PlanetChristmas.com
On my Animated Lighting channels 8-15 all the sudden stopped working. I am pretty sure they were working last night - but tonight - they are not working at all.
OK - I have a Christmas Kit - 16 channels. I am very new to this and don't know where anything of this sort is - please explain simply. I'd be glad to find it though.
It has two fuses - one for channels 0-7, one for channels 8-15. Each of these groups of eight channels has a plastic template or cover over them that have the channels numbers written on them.
First, disconnect the controller from all power.
Next, and I don't have a unit with me, but if I remember right, there are 4-6 small screws that hold down each template. Remove the screws from the template for channels 8-15. Lift the template up and you should see (I forget exactly where) a small fuse that looks like one you'd use in a car (older cars anyway). Replace that fuse with a 15 amp fuse (you can get them from a hardware store).
Put the template back on and power up the controller and see if that does the trick.
The fact that the fuse blew points to a potential problem - have you added any more lights to a channel? Anything different? It's liable to blow again so try and find the source of the problem.
Randi,
You have an ELD-16. There are two fuses located under the panel that has all the sockets where you plug your lights into. You need to unplug all your lights, and unplug the controller (both cords!) from the outlet, and take off the screws that hold the black plate on the outlets where the lights were plugged into.
Under the plate on the right side of the fan, that has channels 2,3 6,7 10,11 14,15 are two fuses. The top one is for channels 0-7, the bottom one is for 8-15. It's a 15A, 250V Fast-blow fuse. The bottom one is probably blown and needs to be replaced.
Just saw that Greg replied while I was opening an ELD-16 that I have sitting here.
Fuses are under the right side plate on my ELD-16.
Could be lots of reasons while it blew - perhaps a rain or snow event may have caused something to slightly overload and blow the fuse...

Could have been some type of surge, maybe you have an extension cord shorting out - or maybe it was just a fluke. If it pops again though, something is causing it.
If you can take it apart as mentioned a few times above you should be able to see the fuses and replace them pretty easily. As for the why it popped, if it is an extension cord in your yard I would take a look at daylight. The other reason I have had that 8-15 didnt work was the daughter board on the side wasnt properly seated in the slot. It was driving me nutz for 2weeks until Drew pointed it out to me that is what it was.
