I'm going from 32 channels running stock shows last year to 96 channels creating my own shows this year. Thought about taking a class from Animated Lighting. Anyone have experience with their classes? Thought it might be a good idea before I invest a lot of time programming my own shows and then not being happy with the finished product.  Thanks!

Sorry I didnt answer your question.  Yes, I attended a class in DC last year.  I thought the classes were great.  I got to meet Paul S. and Drew H.  I cant say that you will be happy with your programming if you take the class or not.

CarlD and I both went last year after having already done our own programing with 96 channels.  The instructor was Drew H and he was in one word Fantastic

The most anoying thing about the class was that "the office" kept calling him on his cell phone while he was trying to teach the class. :(    There were one or two un-documented things we picked up during the class.

The best part of the class was seeing and chatting with all of the other people in the area.

The information on Ken Goods site covers more than what was in the 2 day class.  It's a good place to start.

First timer last year and started late in the season so I used stock shows and was really happy with the outcome. I did run through Ken's online classes several times, but kind of felt like you have to see what the shows looks like before you program your own. Now I've done that I've kind of got programmers block. Want to sit down and do it, but I'm worried I won't be happy with the the results after seeing Animated Lightings programming. My thought was to work through the software and go to a class. Then do some copy and paste from my stock songs that I'm going to use again next season.  That way I could dress up those stock songs (I'm going from 32 to 96 channels) and then program 2 or 3 of my own. Sort of work my way into it. Or maybe I should just jump in head first. I suppose everyone does it different. I'm dying to talk to other folks who have the bug. My wife and friends may get tire of Christmas talk before to long.

Well, working your way into it is definately the more logical way.  How ever, there is nothing like good old trial and error on brand new songs.

The level of pride I felt after getting everything "just right" the first time, was kind of suprising to me.  One key point I try to remember is ... Walk Away from programing at least once an hour, otherwise I end up getting far too frustrated!    But then again, that's just me.

Good luck and enjoy! :D

The classes are worth it!  :happytree:

I find the customer who has taken the classes to be very sucessful with their displays, while gaining a great understanding of Animation Director.  AL will have classes here in KC, as well as other locations TBD.

Agreed, the online classes Ken and Paul offer are good, this can also have awsome results in your display!
