Kudos to all the winners, I can't wait to see the videos
it just seems off to me that LOR was linking to Shadrack during the season and saying "look what you can do with LOR II" - sorry if that's not positive

Philip, et al.,
I am not exactly sure what you mean by “seems off”. It is not a phrase that I am familiar with. However if there is any question to how or why the grand prize winner was chosen, I will be happy to explain. In the contest rules there were few restrictions on eligibility. The contest was open to just about anyone who entered: commercial users, residential users, LOR customers, AL customers, DIYers, etc… Only employees of LOR and their families were excluded. Shadrack is not affiliated with LOR. You many have noticed that Shadrack does not mention LOR on their website! However, once they were chosen, I did decide to level the playing field for future contests. On the page where the winners were announced, I stated that next year we are going to put commercial users in a special category.
Alex chose the winner from all of the entrants. we did not knowingly influence him and I doubt that anyone is going to question his integrity. He is very organized (not sure where he gets it) and he felt a tremendous sense of responsibility for making the correct decision. Once he realized the scope of the project, he implemented a set of color coded categories to sort entries. In the end he had narrowed it eleven finalists from which he chose the winner. So as far as why he picked Shadrack to be the winner, they were in the list to be judged and I will let him say why he made his decision.

The reason I picked this person as the winner is because his lights went well to the music and it looked like it took a lot of work to set them up. Other displays did not have many lights so this is why I chose this display as being the best. This display was also very pretty. When I was younger I used to pick funny displays but now I am more mature and would rather pick this display.
Sincerely,
Alex Baldwin
