I was looking into one and I found a good deal on Microsoft's website...it's FREE!
You Get...
www. (whatever domain you want) .com
25 email accounts
2GB storage per email account
500 MB Website storare
10 GB Data Transfer (bandwidth)
Hosting by Microsoft and some other junk for
FREE
I thought it would be a thing to look into...
Are these good options? Or aren't they compared you hosting you get elsewhere.
This is probably one of the best 'free' hosting packages that I've seen on the market, but it does have its limitations. If you plan to use Microsoft's templates and create a site using what they give you, and you just want to create a standard site, then it's a good deal. It does provide plenty of bandwith for the 'average' Christmas site around here.
If you plan to use third-party software to create your site (Front Page, NVU, Dreamweaver, a content management system, etc.), then you probably will not be able to do this with Microsoft Office Live. In this case, it's probably better to go with a web hosting package that costs money.

I have not examined this deal but I have 2 predictions. I bet there will be advertising that you can't get rid of without paying. I bet that what you create there will only work for people who use internet explorer.
Here's an important thing to ask about. What if you decide to move the site later? Will you be able to take your domain name or will it belong to microsoft? How much will they charge you for it?
As for how it compares you can get quite a bit more for just under 3 bucks a month. (You don't necessarily "need" more but it's there.) http://order.1and1.com/xml/order/Hosting
