!!! OK-Mini Plus coming in Spring 2007 !!! - Christmas Group Information to Share. Read Only. No more posting. - PlanetChristmas! Forums. Read Only. We've moved to http://talk.planetchristmas.com - The Forums of PlanetChristmas have moved to http://talk.PlanetChristmas.com
The Mini is over and I wanted to post a thank you to Tom for hosting another fun and informative Mini.
Thanks so much for opening up your ride and letting all of us lighting fanatics have a place to meet and greet, talk lights for hours, and even staying late to let me test the LED globes under actual usage conditions. Thanks for letting me see the totally wicked animatronics you've cooked up. I'm now inspired to try my hand at it, I just hope you don't mind me stealing a few of your ideas.
Glenn, I'm sorry I didn't have a chance to see a master at work. Although welding is the last thing David wants me to learn, (I don't seem to have any problems with starting fires with only electricity), I really do want to learn how to use an acetylene torch. I'm thinking I just have to host another Mini at my house if you'd be willing to haul your equipment over the state line.
Everyone, Wow! How fun!
I'm so pleased that we all had a chance to put faces to names and had such a wonderful exchange of tips, tricks, ideas, and inspiration, (I think I heard somewhere that this lighting bug we all suffer from is easily transmitted to others). By my definition, that's what make a Mini a success and I look forward to seeing everybody again at PLUS 2007! Yup, the Crazylightlady will be in the house!
Again, thanks Tom and all the Okies that made this Texan feel welcome .

Well after a long busy day, a night of rest and a little bit of "sleep in" this morning, I'm able to finally make to the computer.
I just wanted to say a big "THANK YOU" to EVERYONE that attended. It's always great to meet new faces and see the familiar ones once again. It was super to visit with everyone and talk about each others project, ideas, thoughts and displays. I learn something new each time, which is one of the reasons to attend a mini, or PLUS.
I was really please to see interaction from everyone and hear what you all had to say. I hope everyone found it a pleasant event and hope we see each other again soon.
I'll post pics in the next day or so (I left the camera down at the ride).
Special note: Glenn brought his train project and what a train it is. I can't wait to see the finished product. Annalisa, the LED "floating globe" project will be a hit for displays with ponds and such. I want to see the end result of this as well. Brian brought a few wire frames just to give away, thanks.
Anyway, thank you all for taking the time to attend the OK-Mini and with your help I know the next one will be even better.
Thank you,
Tom
P.S. Bill (Gremler) and Dana (Parrothead), your presence was missed. I hope to see you at another mini really soon.

I got to meet Brian M. a recent transplant to OK. The reason I'm am so happy is that there another Blowmold person within 100 miles of me. Got to have them and proudly displays them for everyone to enjoy. Had a great time and got to meet some new fun people.
If you didn't watch the dvd yet from the South Pole, to me it was worth the trip itself.

I too want to thank Tom for hosting a great event. I met several new friends that share my obsession and talk about how everyone else is crazy for not thinking about Christmas lights in April.
This was my first mini I've attended and would be impressed if someone else could top it. The information and fellowship shared was wonderful.
Greg.
p.s. We gotta see the GOPER! Please post the pics.

If you think a mini is fun, take that x 10 or even 20 and you have a PLUS2007.

Gopher not longer needs a new home..... I stuck him back into the hole and covered him up......for good. I just hope none of his buddies decide to take his place. I can't afford a new lawn.
A big Thank you to Tom for putting up with us Christmas Light Weirdos..... But then having a mini in a Dungeon sounds a little weird also.......
Really enjoyed the Antartica CD. I would like to hear the story behind that one. Not a place I would want to live. Maybe a brief visit..........very brief.
Thank you OJM (Glenn) for bringing your train. Also for the information on the Belkin FM transmitters. Your #1 in my book!
James......You have a job in front of you........I did learn from your demo on how to do cool fades. Anyone want some good information on how to make fades look cool ......James is da Man.....Thanks.
Then a great big OKLAHOMA WELCOME to Brian. I look at importing someone with 500 blowmolds and a wonderful light show to Okla.. is our gain and Penn. loss. I am looking forward to seeing what transpires in OK City when Brian gets cranked up. Also Thanks for the Santa wireframe. Now that I am hyped up about LED's....I'm thinking of changing out the mini's on the wireframe with LED's. A big thanks
Then there's Annalisa.........what can I say. Anyone who drives all the way from Texas to the Oklahoma City Mini. Brings her husband and a car loaded with show and tell goodies just for some Christmas Light Weirdos takes the cake in my book. A Big Oklahoma Thank You!!! You must have Okie in you......... I gathered so much information just talking with you I had to go and buy a new cowboy hat.....2 times bigger to fit my head. Annalisa, you really have done a wonderful show. It is such a shame you live so far out that you don't get much exposure. Yours is one of the best I've seen. You can be my neighbor anyday. I won't call you Idiot if you don't pollute my yard. (Inside joke)!!!
For all the others that attended the mini and for all the significant others that were there ..... Thanks for the fun, thanks for coming, thanks for the information that was so freely shared and the re-assuring feeling that I got before I left.....and that is .....It's not so bad being a Christmas Light Weirdo with friends like u all!! (Okie Term)
Looks like I will have to dig up the Gopher so that I can get a mug shot of it.........WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE.........NO....JUST DEAD.......ONE DEAD GOPHER!!!!!
While I was there for the pre-Mini Plus last Saturday I forgot all about the soldiers, are they the same ones we discussed last year, the cousins of mine, if so I really really really want them.
Bill
Bill,
Then you can really really really have them. Yes, they are the same ones and haven't been touched since last summer. I hear them wrestling around in their box from time to time, but I think it's normal.
Tom
Tom
Did you happen to get rid of the soldiers?
Bill

As usual I am late. Everyone else has expressed my kudos. A big thanks to all for the info you were willing to share(I hope I can remember). My son-in-law and I really enjoyed ourselves. A few special thanks:
Glenn - what can you say about an Okie junk man except keep on junkin'. Our junk is better than Texas new any day('cept you Anna).
Brian - thanks for the wireframe. Can you come up and explain to my wife why I would be dragging home a snowman in April. She didn't understand my reasoning(it has lights and it was free).
Anna - didn't realize a mental condition could be contagious(cept for kids). Thanks for the infection.
Tom - an exceptional host in all respects. Thanks for the hospitality and info. I will be back(I forgot to take notes in the back).
It was nice to meet so many people not threatened by freely sharing knowledge. And you all showed me how I could do more with a smaller budget.
A big THANKS to all!!! Maybe we could do this more than once a year.

That's exactly why I'm going to PLUS this year! It's ok I've already warned Chuck
Frank<-Not to worry, Tom hosted 2 last year and I'm sure he'll host another one sometime in the fall. (hint, hint). Otherwise, everyone is more than welcome to give me a holler anytime they're in the DFW area.
