Does anyone else smell burgers cooking on a grill. Maybe its just hopeful thinking with the 10 degree temps. Everytime I read this section I smell burgers on the grill. Must just be me. Also the wife and I can't wait to meet everyone I have been reading about. Later

Its 50+ here today, the sun is shining, the snow is melting and the days are counting down to the Chicagoland mini. I think I'll break out my shorts and a hawaiian shirt and go sit on the deck in a lawn chair . That will make the neighbors wonder. Less than 20 days til spring is here. Everyone seize the moment and enjoy life to the fullest.
Hi everyone! I've been really busy with my "real" life lately, but I'm now getting down to the nitty gritty and slowly putting the plans in place for the Chicagoland mini.
Thanks to everyone for the input thus far! I have not finalized the arrangements yet, so if there are other topics that you would like to see discussed, taught, demoed..please post your ideas.
If there is an area that you would like to teach/ cover, please let me know and we'll put you on the schedule.
This is your gathering, so the more ideas and topics we have to cover the more we'll all enjoy it.
So far, we have a special guest coming, one that usually doesn't appear much except in December!
The Chicagoland mini in 2006 drew about 65 people, do you think we can do better this time? If you haven't posted your interest in attending, please do..once we get a bit closer to the event, I'll be contacting people as well.
Also, please stay tuned as the Chicagoland website should be up and running with lots of information sometime next month!
If there is anything I can help out with don't hesitate to ask Carrie.
Edited to ask a question. I have a 9 year old daughter and I am debating to bring them along. My wife is into this a smuch as I am and she would love to see how a mini is run as well. What, if anything, would be available for my daughter? I am not sure she would like to sit in the sessions all day. I am not expecting anything, but needed to ask so I can plan accordingly.

Your daughter is welcome to come..all kids are. The classes are held out doors (I'm praying for good weather) and everything is very loosely structured. There are tvs, movies and video games available for any youngsters who may come. I don't have any plans made for kids, but if we get enough of them, we will find some crafts or something suitable to keep them entertained!
Wow a special guest, this is really starting to get exciting. Man I can't wait for the next tib bit of info. The months are ticking away. It will be here before we know it.

Sounds good Carrie! Then you can count on 3 of us then (wife, daughter, and I)
Our first vendor has committed to the mini, thanks Val and Gary!
For anyone who is attending that would like to get in on their pre-order sale on wire frames, rope light (LED and Incandescent) and LED net lights, you can pick them up the Mini, no shipping!
Another class added to the Chicago Mini - Wood Cut Outs & Decorative Painting.
In this class you will learn the basics of painting on wood, how to prepare your wood, products used and detail painting that will make your project come to life! When you are finished with your piece, you will take it home and have your own hand painted decoration to display.
This class is good for all age groups. We have picked out 6 different patterns so that you will be able to choose what you would like to work on.
The cost of the class is $10.00. I will have the wood all cut out, sanded, primed and pattern on the wood so that you will be able to start creating your character right away. All paint, brushes and sealer will be supplied during the class. The hardware to display your project is also included.
If you plan on participating in this fun class, please sign up no later then July 1st .
and let us know which character you would like. We will need time to cut and prepare the wood.
