I'm getting married on July 25, 2008.  We picked that date because we both really like Christmas and thought it would be fun.  Okay here where the questions come....

She would like to have an outdoor wedding, using my christmas lights to light the path up to the alter and aslo would like to have it in a canopy over the entire ceremony and seating area.  Pretty much like a tent, but just lights.   I was figuring on doing 4 poles at the corners with a taller pole in the center.  This would allow for 4 aisles to be made for wedding participants to get to their chairs.

My question on this is, is this not really a canopy but a four sided lighted item?  She really wants a canopy and I just can't figure out how to do that without a tent of some kind to use.

My second question is could I do something like that for the inside where we are having the recepion?  The reception and ceremony are going to be at our church, to ease up on expense.

I have plenty of clear lights for this just not sure how to go about making a canopy outside and possibly one inside.

I would use 6 poles.  4 shorter ones on the corners and two taller ones in the middle.  Anchor them down and tie a wire between them (the two taller ones).  Tie wires between the ends of the shorter ones too.

The wire should be strong enough to support the weight of the wire and lights.

Simply drape the lights across the wires from short to tall and back down to short again.

In theory, it should work.  But, I would be unsure of how it would handle in a big wind.

how many people do you need to get in there and how large is your wedding party?

you need to determine how big the space needs to be...that could make a difference in the way it needs to be built...

IMPO...I would go ahead and rent a tent and string lights in there...then you would be protected just in case it rains on your wedding day....

It would help with the heat too...it's hot in July....

on the inside area....what is the space like...?

could you just string lights from the ceiling to get the effect you want...?
