Last year there was a website where you could upload a picture and it would make a template for a pumpkin. I can't seem to find it through Google. Does anyone have a link to it?
They have one under "family and crafts", then "holidays". You can choose predrawn eyes, nose, and mouth to make your own creation.
Not exactly what you were talking about but thought I would pass it along...

I guess you could use a graphics program and set it to monochrome and adjust the contrast to get the desired result...or grayscale and reduce it to 3 or 4 shades of gray to do the fancier "depth carving" stencils
