I havent been around for a while because we are still busy trying to sort the house out after the floods. So hi to all I havent spoken to for a long while.

On the subject this thread is about... today we have had the first negative comments. For 3 nights running a neighbour has parked over the front of the drive. the first night i ignored it. The second night I put a note on his windscreen (a very polite note) asking that they kindly do not park over the driveway as i cannot get my car on. Last night they did it again and my wife decided to go and ask him to move the car. He was very nice and said sure after he had finished eating.. he said that this time of year it is a nightmare to park here. My wife agreed and that was that. As she was walking away from his front door, our immediate neighbour (whom we have had issues with before) decided to get involved.. started calling my wife a fat b**ch who "thinks she owns the road". My wife said that this was nothing to do with them and why the abuse? It all got heated and the car owner came back out and started mouthing off too. We had threats of "we will get the family involved". After my wife came back very upset with the abuse she suffered, we had banging on the front door. This went away after 10 mins and the threat that I would call the police. The car never got moved until this morning.

I caught sight of the owner of the car this morning and asked him to explain what happened. He said tempers were obviously running high. He also said that the lights are causing a problem... parking being one, however he nearly ran a kid down the other day who was coming out of our drive after looking at the lights..

This is the first negative comments and i would expect that the foul mouthed neighbour also has the same issue. I have explained to him that i want no hassle and he seemed t o be ok. The immediate neighbours are a lost cause. The first year we did any sort of display (much scaled down from the one we have now) they actually went into the garden and pulled bulbs out of the strings of lights.

Any suggestions? Everybody else in the street loves them... most notably the neighbours on the opposite side of the street.

I wouldn't mind but the neigbours in question live on my side of the street and they cant see the lights from their houses as the display is between my house and my left hand side neighbour in a side yard.... and he loves them too.

This has to be our worst nightmare when the neighbors don't play fair. We have to put up with their "neighborly nuisances" for the rest of the year, what's 1 month of the year with a light display?

If my neighbours came on to my yard and tampered with lights I would call the police. That's plain vandalism.

All I can say is good luck for the rest of the year.

its a fire hazard if he parks in FRONT of your driveway. if there is a fire, the depatment cant get to you. find some way to get him.

other than that, park your car in front of his driveway:P

Call a towing company and have his vehicle towed. It's blocking acccess to your driveway.

I think your wife does own the road...at least the road in front of her driveway...

it's most likely illegal to block your access...I'd look into it and see what can be done...

make sure your lights are not violating any laws and find out what laws these idiots are...and use it against them....

If they are causing problems for your family call the police and have them picked up...beating on your door and causing a ruckus is trespassing...

they other neighbors were trespassing and vandalizing your property removing lights and also stealing....

don't let them push you around...

If it were me...I'd make my own access right through his car...it would be worth the deductible...

Hi Darren,

Did you know that it is officially classed as entrapment if your vehicle is in your driveway and someone blocks it.

Won't be a problem for you next year as you're moving, but worth keeping in mind.
