I went to Harbor freight and bought some, but 7 or 8 out of ten still broke when you tried to use them. I was hoping there are better zip ties out there.

I purchased 10,000 on Ebay for $120 including shipping last Feb.  If you do not need that many, maybe you can find someother people in the area to split it.  I used 9,000 last year, so I will be on the hunt soon.  I used the 8" 40 pound heavy duty black

Graingers or McMaster Carr, Panduit brand is my personal favorite.  Built ATC and industrial process control panels for years and these were all I used, never had breakage problems regardless of the temperature.

I just got some from http://www.allelectronics.com , they seem to be pretty good quality. The price was a bit better then the other vendors who sell good quality zip ties.

I get mine from Bill Foley (screen name "Bill Foley")

He was importing them so PM him and see if he can get you some.

$6 / 1,000 is pretty good (2006 price plus shipping).
They are the 4" natural 15# rating.

I've had the best luck with the ties that Northern Tool sells.  There are cheaper ones out there, but I've had to throw away whole bags of them because they don't latch properly or come loose after cinching down, etc.  Northern occasionally has some good sales too.

When I find a winning product, I like to stay with it.  So, it's Northern Tools for all my tie-wraps......

Those are good prices at Northern Tools if they aren't the ones that break real easy or wont latch at all.

I have a bag of 1000 of the black (UV resist) cable ties from Home Depot (just under $20).  I use them when installing network wiring.  I don't remember the brand but I haven't had any trouble with them breaking.  I would expect the ones from Harbor Freight Tools to be a cheaper quality.  What are you doing with cable ties that is causing them to break?

I've bought thousands of zip ties from Northern Tools over the years and they are a decent product at a very resonable price.  my two....

I bought these also except they were the natural. They were $15.00 for 1000

I only had two bad ones in the entire bag. None of them ever broke when using them.

I've been really happy with McMaster Carr, the quality is great, the price point is excellent, and they ship very quicky.

How does a zip-tie "s***"?  I've bought from many sources (typically the cheapest available within my lead-time) and have never had issues with any of them (all-electronics, Northern, Menards, Home depot... etc)

The only time that I really had any problems was when I pulled way too hard and stretched it, or bumped one on a wireframe when it was really cold and broke off the small locking tab.

I use a wire tie gun now and don’t have the stretching issue anymore.  Some day I’ll move to a warmer climate so the breaking problem will go away too.
