Hi,
I thought it would be cool to start a running list, and share some of your favorite NEW (released within the past 10 years) Christmas albums or songs.
There are so many great christmas albums out  (and alot of really bad ones) that it is hard to be aware of them all when they are just around for about 2 months., and i like Trans-Siberian, really i do, but there are so many other options out there, lol.

Mercy Me – The Christmas Sessions (contemp. Christian)
My absolute favorite NEW Album… you must buy it for their rendition of ”I heard the Bells on Christmas Day”
also a great song for you to animate is their version of "god rest ye merry gentlemen" it is like the reverse of the Trans-siberian Carol of the bells(christmas eve). It has God rest ye with a little bit of Carol of the bells mixed in. Where as The TSO version is mostly Carol of the bells with a hint of God rest ye. ( i bet you didnt even realize that)
Also It came upon the midnight clear is great, and Gloria... they are all great! a must have! trust me. the previews dont do justice, the arrangments are new. you need to hear the full versions.

40 Years: A Charlie Brown Christmas –My second favorite newbie. ( all the songs re-done by new artists, plus a really nice new song by Vanessa williams. If your looking for a new version of Linus and Lucy, or Christmas is coming.) Of course the original soundtrack by vince guraldi is a must have, as well as the soundtrack to rudolph by burl ives.

Ultra Lounge: Christmas ****tails volumes 1,2 and 3 -  The coolest albums ever. ( they have a non-christmas series too) (dont get the "best of" cd ) Julie London, kay starr, johnny mercer etc.  - plus alot of funky instrumentals for you animators

Chris Botti -  December –  Trumpet soloist.....has a beautiful version of Ave Maria

Avalon – Joy (contemp. Christian) - Winterwonderland - good for animations

WOW Christmas – Christian Artists – some of the best, coolest renditions of Christmas songs are by the contemporary Christian artists.

ALL of The Amy Grant Christmas albums, especially “A Christmas to Remember”, “home for Christmas” “a Christmas album”

Chicago XXV - has anyone animated "let it snow" ?

Vanesssa Williams- Star bright

Brian Setzer

I just came across one that i am going to order right now:
Merry MixMas - (not for everyone)--very good christmas mixes. they used the best christmas songs and remixed them into club songs, and did a really awesome job with it. Good for animations i think.
I put all these ablums into a list on amazon.com so you can preview them:

If you have a favorite new album or song, please list!

I love that Mercy Me album. Most of the songs are perfect for light displays. I'm planning on synchronizing their version of Rockin' Around the Christmas tree.

Also, Jars of Clay and Relient K are coming out with new Christmas albums this year.

WOW Christmas  30 top Christian artists and Holiday Songs.  I have the one from 2002 and another from 2005.  Both are very good compilation albums.  You can find them on Amazon for cheap.

Don't forget Mannheim Steamroller - mostly instrumental (all, actually, except a couple songs on each of the 2 latest albums)

I have all of them, including the '97 live album, except for the latest one which I need to pick up soon.

I grew up listening to it and now I couldn't imagine a Christmas season without it.  Just wouldn't be right... :happytree:
