Hey Guys,

My Tunecast just isn't cutting it anymore this year. Last year it worked Great and now this year it transmits but, it's not clear there  is a definite bit of static in the music...

Thoughts anyone???
I need to have it fixed by Dec 1.... Damn it I should have tested sooner...

Evan

Is it the same computer? Is the transmitter in the same place. Same power source? Is the noise humming?

When I modded My belkin the first thing I did was buy 2 more as spares:laughing:

Yeah I think I'll go buy a new one tomorrow just to see if it fixes the problem. Same Computer, Antenna is in the same spot. Only thing different is we put a shelving unit near the location.

Interestingly, if I switch my radio to FM MOno it's clear as a bell. Perhaps it's something to do with that....

Look forward to other responses as well.

Cheers

-Evan

UPDATE:

So, I took apart my Tunecast and put a different antenna on it to no avail. So a shot in the dark, I hooked my laptop up to it and voila no more static. Sooo, I am going to try a different sound card in my Computer tonight and cross your fingers that will fix the problem. If not I guess I'll be looking at try to build a new computer before the weeks out... argh...

Stay tuned as it were...:laughing::laughing:

Evan--Just out of curiosity, how long is your antenna?

I tried that "calculator" thing and it didn't work last year.  So, last year AFTER THE SHOW ENDED (GRR!)  I redid the antenna...making it like 8 ft long.  I taped it up on our great room wall...and drove 2 blocks without problem.  This year, I put it in by my show computer in a 8' room, (actually a little lower cuz of a tray ceiling) and there's a little bit hanging off the top...and I can't get real good signal a block away...let alone in front of my house!  My dad found a "sweet" spot and my uncle got 1/2 static...so I think I will move it and find a good location...I don't see spending $160 for a good one....if I can get this one to work!

My antenna is 63 inches and the FM is tuned to 89.1 FM. It worked fabulously last year. I got distances of about 6 homes away without losing it. I'll try the Different sound card tonight to see if it makes a distance. Also the Tunecast II's are $20 cheaper then they were when I purchased it last year so, I may purchase another just as a spare. I'm pretty sure it's correlated to the Computer though as on the Laptop it transmits fine...

Don't know if this will help but...I had a problem with my Ramsey with static.  Problem was the cable going from the computers speaker port to the Ramsey was crossing over some power cables.  I moved the cable away from the power and it fixed it.

UPDATE PART 2

Well I tried installing a different sound card on this machine to the same result. Lots of lousy static. I have also noticed that I'm now battling somebody in this area with my FM Choice. When I stop broadcasting some stupid radio talk show comes on somewhat faintly but, a little stronger in vehicles.

Anyways, back to the static. I changed to a different PC and voila no more static. I kinda wanted to swap computers I just didn't plan on doing it this close to Christmas. Oh well, what's done is done and the music sounds great once again..
Phew...

Check one more thing off the list before Saturday....
