No cause .mp4 is a DRM encoded file generated by iTunes. If you can convert it to an .mp3 or .wav then you'd be better off...

I use a program called "Tunebite" to convert them to mp3 or whatever.  It is available http://tunebite.com/en/remove_drm/index.html

Hope this helps,

Bob

Since we're on the topic... I bought an i-tunes song and when I cut and pasted it from the library to my desktop, it came out as a .M4P song. Is that the same as an MP4 song? I don't have anything that will play it or convert it to .MP3.

How do I get an itunes song to my desktop as an .MP4?

You can either burn it to a CD then import it to your desktop, or use the above mentioned tunebite program.

If you have Audacity installed, you can play the music in whatever player you normally use, then in Audacity do a recording by choosing the "What You Hear" option at the top right.

You'll have to experiment with the volume to get it optimized and you can't do ANYTHING that might cause a sound during the recording.
