I bought the ultimate edition and haven't had any issue to speak of, although I only have about 10 hours of use so far. I noticed on the Pinnacle web page that there is a user forum with plenty of information, you may want to look/try there.
One silly question though, did you try to reload the whole package, I found it quite cumbersome during installation and there may be errors.
i uninstalled it and reinstalled it , went to the website and updated everything and searched in the forums and i came up empty handed. i bought thus around 2 this afternoon and you see how far i have got
it all started when i couldnt get windows movie maker to work. i get an error message saying that w.m.m has ecounterd problems blah blah blah (lol) so im trying to find updates on that
To check which version of Direct X you have - go to "Start" "Run" and type in "dxdiag" then enter. Answer yes and looking near the bottom of the window that opens you will see your version of direct X. You must have version 9.0 or above to run Pinnacle. You will see lots of information in that screen.
I have version 10 Titanium Edition running on 1 gig of Ram, 3.1 GHz processor on a dual core motherboard, even though the processor is not dual core - it makes a difference.
Make sure you update windows media to current and you have all the patches in place. What video card do you have in your machine - or should I ask - what are the specs on your machine and video card/
I'm a full time IT - let's figure this out.

well finally at 3 this morning i decided to go ahead and have my pc serviced with more memory and some other things, so im hoping that will solve the issue. as far as the directx and all the patches, everything is current. since we are on the subject, why cant i get windows movie maker to work. like i said i installed all the latest and greatest updates from windows but it still tells me that it has encountered a problem and must close.
I purchased Pinnacle Studio 11 ultimate to edit our videos because they are captured by a Canon hg10 in the AVCHD format. This is my first experience working with the software but I have experienced the same thing on my son's PC. Brand new Dual core 2.4, Nvidia 8600GT 256 mb and 1 Gig of RAM.
The software locks Vista up dead (constantly). I'm suspecting that it's a RAM issue. I also tried it on a laptop that is a dual core 1.4 with 2 gig and it's slow but stable.
I have more RAM coming for my son's PC and I'm hopeful that it works. The minimum requirements for the AVCHD format that I have with Pinnicle Studio 11 are something else.
Just like Christmas Lights, a little more must be better!
Let us know how it goes.

I have not had any luck with Pinnacle Studio running on my computer and I am well over requirements to run it. I just trashed it and with with Song Vegas and love it and it is cheaper. Seems to have a lot better features and more user friendly.
I have used Pinnacle Studio all the way back to Studio 7, if you need any help feel free to PM me and I'll see if I can help you. and if you need any trans. let me know, I know a few people that make there own trans. and then post them for other people to use. With the ones that I have made and everyone together, there are around 250 trans.
If you want to make your computer faster, and use it for video editing, I would go with a really good video card before I would go up with the memory...in a way when you put in a video card you will rise your memory at the same time due to the fact that it will free up the memory that the computer use to use to run video, after you put in a card, the computer will use the card to run the video, which provides it's own memory, and the memory that use to run the video will now be free to run other stuff which will make your computer run faster...Someone help me explain this better!!!
See ya, Kelli

That is very true, a good memory card will raise your memory but you are going to pay more for a good video card then you will to upgrade your memory. I don't know how much a video card will help when it comes to video editing programs like pinnacle studio. I know most are made for gaming and high resoultion monitor purpose. I don't know how many of them actually take the strain of using video editing software off the memory. I have a good ATI video card with 512 MB and then my physical memory is 2 GB of DDR Ram and it still runs slow and locks up even on my Dual Core Hyper Thread Processor.
