Belkin Tunecast II Mod - Christmas Radio/Music/Videos/etc. Read Only. No more posting. - PlanetChristmas! Forums. Read Only. We've moved to http://talk.planetchristmas.com - The Forums of PlanetChristmas have moved to http://talk.PlanetChristmas.com
Well, I am one of the people that had done this mod for this season, and it is working great. I got the transmitter off ebay for 20 dollars, and 5 minutes after having it in the door the mod was done. The range of course will depend on how many strong station you have in your area, and topography. However I live in a large city with hardly ANY room in the fm dial, and mine is going about 150-200 ft. Not bad for 20 bucks off of ebay vs alot more for a ramsey. You can get the tunercastII at walmart for 34 dollars since now we are in NEED of the asap. Very cool. All I did was add the wire to the ant lead on the board that is very EASILY marked and ran a wire out near the road. Logan did a awesome job finding this hack.

What I used was just some scrap speaker wire that came with a surround system that I had bought a while back. You knoe the cheap junk they give you so you will spend out extra for the better cabling. I cut then ant wire, but make sure to give yoruself anough room to splice in another piece of speaker wire. So many around here talk about half wave, full wave, I have no clue WHAT they are talkin about, but I just added my wire onto the one that I cut on the board, and ran it out a window a few ft fromthe road. Works perfect for me.

yep. real simple to do and not too bad. I am getting a distance of about 300'-400' might be a couple of miles like some of the other guys out there but at least its a start.
For anyone else out there that might try this. I recomend to get the out of the unit to take a razer blade and just shave off a little bit of the rubber stopper that holds the wire in place. That will allow you just enough room to squize the wire out.

not at all. I also bought a splitter so that I can also have my computer speakers plugged in so that I can listen in my office also.
the link is bad, and i need the directions for the mod, can anyone help?
Logan is moving his domain...

I expect we'll see it soon!
In the mean time, the basic idea is:
1. remove the battery cover and unscrew the screws in there
2. pry the two halves of the unit apart
3. turn it over carefully and locate the "ANT" wires
4. cut them, strip them and add a length of wire to them
5. put the unit back together.
style="BACKGROUND-COLOR: #f8f8f8"That is another link with the same mod. They also show making a simple little amp that will boost the frequincy. I think I might give it a try also to see if it helps.
Keep in mind...if you add an amp.. you will definately be running in violation of the FCC Part 15 laws!
But hey...whats several thousand dollars???
Study the antenna... a proper antenna will do more for your range than more output power.. as a matter of fact.. if you run more power and DON"T tune the antenna properly..your amp will go "POOF!"
Just FYI....

Thanks for the help Steve.

JR, keep in mind the maximum allowable range is approximately 200 feet. (It's less than that somewhat, as the FCC goes by received signal strength not transmitted distance, but as a rule of thumb you are safe under 200 ft)
The allowable range stated above only applies as long as you don't interfere with someone's FM station they are listening to. If you do, (for example even if they are next door to you and only 75 feet away), you will have to cease transmitting immediately.
The guys that claim to be getting a couple of miles aren't doing it with stock equipment, with simply longer wires added.
They're running higher output transmitters than the Belkin!
