Hi! I've never used inflatables before, but I'm looking for a dragon to add for 2008. I did a little google searching and was surprised to not find such a product anywhere. Buyinflatables doesn't seem to carry anything that fits the bill either. So, has anyone ever seen an inflatable dragon? Where can I find one?
I do animated lights, so my 2008 addition was going to be a Disney Fantasmic! show segment. I was looking at going with the new DMX capabilities of LOR. So, I need some sort of "evil" monster for Mickey to "fight" in his dream. If you follow the Disney show which originated in the early 90s, the grande finale is usually a dragon. Really, I just need something big and "scary" to inflate. I thought an inflatable might have a better impact than video -- even though the inflatable is static.
So it was just an idea. I don't have the whole thing planned out in my head yet, and I think the LOR DMX solution I'm looking at may be too expensive to accomplish in one year.
Anyways, so I was really surprised I couldn't find an inflatable dragon. Can you think of anything else that would make a good inflatable for a "scary/evil" dream sequence Mickey Mouse has? Taller is better.

Actually, some of my internet searching yield those, but every place that sells them didn't list a price. So far, I've been too afraid to ask. It would be a killer effect, though! It might be worth looking into if I don't find a "normal" inflatable that fits the bill.
As a side note Tim, I saw you've been looking at the DMX colorwashes too. Do you have a good feel for the colorsplash jr. vs. the 200b? I have had a very hard time figuring out which is best suited for washing a house without buying both. I'm curious if you've researched them at all. Brightness and beam angle are the only differences I see. (Ok, i'll finish hijacking my own thread now.)

Short answer - no...
The Jr's with the diffuser seem promising -- then use more fixtures so you could do a "rainbow sweep" across the front of the house, for example...
Thanks for the response. I have been torn between the two for that reason. The way my display is organized, I need them about 6-8 feet from the house. Not sure the jr. can do that without becoming a spot. The jr. would also be useful for my halloween (graveyard) display, and the 200bs not so much.
Tom,
Thanks for getting me back on topic. Something like that is perfect! Where did it come from? I bet you know some great vendors. You do the Halloween and Christmas rides, right?

Hey Mike,
I had it special made back in 2003 and if my memory serves me right, it came from the same folks that Jack frost posted a link for just above, Inflatable dinosaurs, inflatable dinosaur t rex, dragons. Being 17' tall, he didn't come cheap. His eyes glow red and has a tube inside that allows a smoke machine to be hooked up and blows out his mouth. From my understanding, he's the only one of a kind because it was special order to my specifications.
Yes, I do a spring/summer Dungeon themed ride good for all ages. Then beef it up with actors and change things up for Halloween for teens and adults. Then convert it to a Christmas ride. It's a lot of fun but a lot of work too .
Tom
Edit: as for vendors, yes, some know me by first name. A costly habit .

I do remember seeing a prototype inflatable valentines dragon from Gemmy......unfortunately I do not have a photo of it.
Trust me.......if it exists.......and someone has it...........with the shortage of valentine's day inflatables this year........it will probably show up on ebay for mucho dinero

It would work it was "scary" and didn't say Hapy Valentines Day. I'll see if I can find it, but it sounds like this may not be the best option. I don't want something that is too "friendly" looking.
