When you mentioned the great C9 bulbs at action lighting, were
you talking about the 7 watt bulbs or the 10 watt bulbs?
I've always used just the 7 watt transparents.
I noticed they had the following colors:

teal
amber
clear
blue
fuchsia (hot pink)
purple
red
green
yellow

Would a string with all of these look good?
I'd be interested in what interested C9 patterns people have come up with that look good on the house.

I always use the pattern red, green, orange, blue in the opaque colors.  I suggest that you don't use clear or white when doing multicolor C9s (or any type bulb for that matter).  The clear and white are too bright and will make the colors look muted or washed out.  (Unfortunately the multi sets come with red, green, orange, blue, and white.)  It really makes a big difference when you take out the white bulbs.  The colors are much more vibrant.  Another thing that I did was to buy 10 watt blue bulbs.  The blues are the least bright of the colors so I bought the 10 watt hoping to make the blue show up better.  I think it looks good but I didn't do a comparison of the 7 to the 10 to see how much difference it makes.  I had originally planned to get 10 watt green also but Action Lighting didn't have them.  I pretty sure they are discontinuing all the 10 watt bulbs.  BTW, the same theory could apply to C7 bulbs because they come in both 5 and 7 watts.

I've thought about using transparent teal, fuchsia, purple and yellow for Easter since they are all sort of pastel.  I don't know how it would look to use all the transparent colors together.  It might be cool or it might be too much.  I'm not sure.  I think that using something like red, green, amber, blue, fuchsia, purple (then repeat) would probably look good.  There were several houses in my neighborhood that had 5 color transparent sets witch red, green, amber, blue and either the pink (fuchsia) or the purple.  Both combinations looked good so I think having the pink and the purple would look good too.

When thinking about different color patterns I consider things like alternating between the "hot" colors (red, amber) and the "cool" colors (blue, green).  Another thing I like to do is to have complementary colors like red and green next to each other.  The best method might just be to get a bunch of bulbs out and start swapping them around and see what looks good.  I keep thinking I'm going to do that sometime but haven't gotten around to it yet...  :?

I coulda bought tons of C9's at Hobby Lobby's 90% off (both Clear and Red)...but
passed on even grabbing 1 set.  They look great but take too much power so for
the most part i don't plan to use many anymore

If doing 'custom' multi-color C# sets i'd do it in this order Red-Yellow-Green-Cyan-Blue-Magenta/Purple (only because thats the way colours
are organised on the computer!) ... like others have said i'd leave white out of the
mix
