Check out http://www.woot.com

They have a two pack of wireless FM transmitters for $7.99.

-Shipping is $5.00

They look similiar to the Belkin Devices.

I've never used one of these, so I have no knowledge of how good they are.

Just seemed like a good deal and thought I would pass the word!

If you don't know about woot, they only do 1 deal per day.

So at midnight they change items.  Once sold out, that's it until the next day.

I use the Belkin so I picked up this deal to have some spares. Buttons are little different from the Belkin, but other than that they look very similiar. I needed a extra one for my motor home anyway.

Buyer beware.  They look good, they look like a belkin, but for $7.99 for two ... I'm extremely doubtful that these would make it to back seat of the car, let alone to the curb.

That is exactly the same transmitter my sister bought for $10 at Target, bottom line, it is a bad transmitter, I could barely get it transmitting across my room, for a short distance, like a car where you are right by the radio, it works ok, but for a light show use, it is worthless.

Well Dang.....  That stinks to hear that!!!

I was hoping that I came across something really good for the group!

But like I said, I never used this thing before, I just came across the deal and thought I would share.

Hopefully it will work for someone!!!

I needed on for using my Zumo550 in the motorhome, so if it works for that, still a good deal. Leaves me an extra I can mod and see if it works for LOR.

IF you have a Goodwill store near you that has the Goodwill COmputer Store in it they usually have some belkins. They go for about 5-8 bucks. I bought a couple as spares.

Ok, I received my Woot Transmitter today:

Specs/Pros/Cons:

***THERE IS NO AUTO POWER UP AS SEEN ON THE BELKIN***
The Car adapter cable is like 2' long (compared to the Belkin's long one)
There is a thermometer on board! woot! lol

The LCD display is much easier to read
There is an on board clock
The button on the left side turns broadcasting on/off (so that's why there's no auto function)

I'm still trying to figure how to get it open....I'll post those details later.
Also, it has a really wierd power input...never seen it before.
It is in a "gloss" finish, as the belkin is in a more "matte" finish/feeling.

BTW, This unit will NOT, i repeat, NOT open.  I just tried to pry mine open and it wont!  I just ripped the electrial connection out, so it's busted now.  I put it back in and it only works on batteries now:X:X:X:X:devil::devil:

I have mine also. Have not had time to mess with them yet. I too was looking at how to open them up. If I figure it out I will let you know.

These do open.  I purchased mine from target for about $2 after Christmas.  It was on sale due to the item packaged as a Christmas gift.

Warning, you cannot solder a length of wire to this device in place of the antenna like you can on the Belkins.

However, for $2, it works decently well for listening to my Ipod on my radio while working in the garage.

Edit: Grammar

They do??

I had a knife and a screw driver and it wouldn't open for anything!  I didn't continue any further, because I knew I'd break it (as I did!)

Mine had one screw behind a Quality Control sticker within the battery compartment.  Once it was removed, the case separated by prying at the seam.
