I do search by city believe it or not if I have the time. There are programs that you can download but they never work for me. I just search Christmas but for the local ads I just look at them all.
I too search all the major cities but never find them like you do.
Are you looking for someone to pick them up 4 u?

Use X-Mas too.
Try Christmas, Xmas, X-mas, Decoration, Decorations and Plastic.
I also found that you can get there a bit quicker by adding Lights or Outdoor for you first search.

This guy had this at 100.00 when I first emailed him. I told him I had no money right now and if he had anything left I might make him an offer. He email me today to come and get it all for free! I filled my wifes van with a ton of stuff and containers to put it in. Took me and my son 6 hours to go thru all of it. What a haul and ext. cords too!

I keep my eye on the FREE section on craig's list. Lots of stuff comes thru periodically although sometimes you miss out, people tell you you are the 50th email to respond.
I thought I would mention, I had a friend go and pick up a FREE 62 inch HDTV projection TV and found out all it needed was a $200 projector bulb... wallah, friend now has a wonderful $4500 TV for $200! Lots of people will dump very expensive projection TV's just for needing a replacement bulb, if nothing else could be useful in the display!
As for the free section, we got a polar bear wireframe, 3 RichardH style stick Christmas tree, 10 blue LED lights from Home Depot because one or two had 1/2 a string go dark, 3 interior style artificial Christmas trees, etc off the FREE section at Craig's list.
