Thanks for the headsup!  Bought a few of these since I was just thinking I needed some "fillers" in a couple of spots for next year's display.

Thanks again. :happytree:

Might want to add some lights as general rule is at least 100 lights per foot.

These remind me of the Expandable Lighted Trees that Taylor Gifts was clearing out last year (see picture).  Inventory went up/down as they sold them all, so it took me four months of checking their site in order to finally get enough of them early last year.  http://www.taylorgifts.com/prodetail~itemNo~12253.asp

I ordered 20 of these trees at $4.97 each plus a total of $14.99 shipping and $.99 processing fee.  Just received notification that the order was shipped today via DHL in 7 shipments with a total shipping weight of 374 pounds.  I think they may have lost money on this order.

Funny, I showed my wife that they were sending our 9 trees via three shipments with a total weight of about 160lbs.  I said the same thing... no profit on this transaction. ;)

Thanks again for the headup. :happytree:

By day, this wire-frame tree gives a graceful suggestion of a star-topped Christmas tree. But at night, with its 200 lights blazing, it becomes a dazzling spectacle of holiday splendor. Sits on a flat surface or can be staked securely into the ground. Plugs into an AC outlet; plug has receptacle for stringing 2 or more trees together. Crafted of metal. Stands 5-ft. tall.

with it's 200 lights blazing:shock::laughing:

They've never seen our displays:laughing:

We might want to add a few............Hundred:laughing:

Huh?  Add more?  I was going to thin it out down to about 38 or 39 and then use the extra lights on my dog... darn... there goes that plan. :waycool:

Better to battery lights for the dog.  That way they don't get tangled.

Heh. Imagine what RichardH would do to it! It would crumple under the weight of the extra lights. ;)

Great idea.  I guess I can pull the battery from the tractor for an hour or so... boy... I hope she can carry the added weight? :shock:

We all need a good report from someone when they get the trees in.  Get them setup and take a good night picture and let everyone know how they look.

Be sure to adjust your camera so the "200 blazing lights" don't mess up the shot! ;) :P :laughing:

Welp, this is a new kind of shipping...
http://www.dhl-usa.com/USSvcs/detail/athome.asp?nav=USServices/DDeliveryServices/AtHome

DHL@Home it's called.  DHL handles the package until it gets local... then they drop it off at the USPS for them to deliver to your door.  Sounds very, VERY scarey.  My 3 packages made it to a local post office(notice I said "A" local... not "MY" local...)  So it's up to the good ol' USPS to get the three ~60lb packages to my door. :?  Why does that scare me soooo? :shock:  Not only does DHL get a shot at your package, but so does the USPS. :{

I've had nothing but GOOD results with DHL. Maybe that's why Dell uses them.

I've frequently ordered something late one afternoon and received it the next morning before I was even notified that it had shipped!

You can't much better than that! :)

We are rural, so the mail is delivered in POVs.  My mail lady is definitely NOT going to be a happy camper with 364 pounds to deliver to my house in her own car!

Ugh...  Fedex has been doing this a while, it's called 'SmartPost'.  In a word, it 'vacuums'.

I ordered a tiny part for my TV a few years back.  It ends up being sent from Miami.  By car, it's about a 5 hour trip from there to here in Tampa Bay.

According to the tracking it took a day to get to Melbourne (closer).  It then took another day to get to Orlando (closer still, but 75 miles away).  Then the tracking stopped for 3 days until the package arrived in Atlanta GA.  2 more days and it ended up somewhere in Kentucky, back down to Florida, etc etc etc.  Finally after a 2 week trek across the southeast Fedex handed it over to the USPS which got it here the next day.

Now, let me put that in perspective:  If I were to mail something to Miami (and note that it doesn't matter if it's overnight express or the really slow 'media mail') as long as it gets to the central post office here in Tampa no later than say 2AM, it will arrive in Miami for that morning's deliveries.  Since this was less than a 1lb delivery, it wouldn't be more than a couple of bucks to ship via USPS.

From reading up about it these 'last mile' type services, FedEx (and I assume DHL) consider these packages the lowest of the low when it comes to priority.  Basically if there is room on a truck that's the direction it is going to go.  It will continue to bounce around the system until (seemingly randomly) it finally arrives close enough for them to hand it to the post office.

The USPS is not the people to blame when your package arrives 3 weeks later.  If you watch the tracking, typically USPS gets you the package within 24 hours of them getting it from the carrier.

Well, the USPS came through absolutely fine.  Three very large boxes were in my driveway when we got home last evening.  Looks like the weights were wrong on the Collections Etc. website, they said all three boxes were ~60lbs each, ended up being all three boxes were a total of ~60lbs.

I assembled one tree last night and after a few zip ties, bending of some wire, and a little time to grow on you... they aren't too bad for $4.97 each. :laughing:  (just be prepared to put some time into them since they are pretty cheaply made)
