My wife was in the gym at our local hospital and had her keys on a keyboard inside the gym. Someone took her keys, stole the car which contained her purse, wallet, checks, ids, house keys, blah blah everything.....
You should IMMEDIATELY (If not sooner) call the credit bureaus (Experion, TransUnion, Equifax, etc.) and place a fraud alert on your accounts. The people that stole it will waste no time opening new accounts in your name.
You won't be liable but you'll save yourself a lot of grief by doing this ASAP.

Yes- thanks. Did that within the hour after stolen. But she also had over $500 cash she was taking to bank that was left over from our vacation to deposit, $200 in Barnes and Nobles gift cards from Christmas, $100 to our favorite restaurant that was a gift for my bday last week, her custom cue stick in the car I bought her for a bday present last year, a tool set, ipods, drivers license, house keys (they are re-keying my 11 house locks right now as I wait)
and just a general intrusion in her (and my) life on a bad day anyway.....
Along the lines of what Chuck said, a police officer friend of mine cautioned me awhile back about garage door openers. I guess thieves will cruise by with your stolen garage door opener and open the door during the daytime when no one is home and clean out the things in your garage or make their way into the house...Changing the code on your door opener receiver will help fix that problem....
Not only was her wallet stolen, a few years ago someone broke into our home and made off with her jewelry box and a couple off lousy laptops.
The insurance company replaced the laptops but only $5K of the jewelry. They stole over $30K and probably only got a few hundred bucks for it. Meanwhile, we lost a lot of family stuff that was in with the jewelry.
Check your insurance policies - they generally don't cover a lot of jewelry and such unless you specifically mention it. (As we now know.)
That happened to me once ... it is very sick feeling and a pain to get everything aligned right again.
That Night I sat down and wrote and or called all the radio stations, and TV stations describing the car told them how it feels. They added lib to how it felt to me and announced it on almost every radio station and TV station.
The next day a caller called into one of the radio stations and saw the car on her block. The police and I went over and pick it up.
I think the thieves must have heard the radio and decided to ditch the car as there was too much heat on it.
might work for you as well

I've been burglarized twice in my life, once while living in the college dorm and once when I was teenager. The bad part was both times, we knew who the thief was. The first time it was my sister's boyfriend. The second time it was the guy living in the dorm room next to me, he crawled through the cieling and got stuff from several people to support his dope habit- he was caught.
