As I untangle strings of Christmas lights, Lord help me to remember that I do this first to honor You. Never let me get so prideful of my display that I fail to see the wonders in the eyes of a child or the joy on the faces of those who are still children at heart. Never let me forget that my total effort is to make Christmas memories, bring cheer and to slow down the pace of a hectic season if only for a moment. And Lord, someday when I meet you face to face, may I hear you say:
“When you made My people smile, you made Me smile.”
FANTASTIC! People have told me that I am part of the commercialization of Christmas, but this prayer and the smiles of the people viewing the show make it worth doing. Thank you for this prayer and I shall share this with all of my friends!

THANK YOU!! I just finished putting Halloween away and am semi-overwhelmed to even think of Christmas...had many smiles for my Halloween display and your prayer puts it all in the right frame of the why we do it!! Christmas will be so much BETTER!

Thank you! I'm glad to hear so many positive responses! It really put things in persective this afternoon when my husband were unstringing and streching out 24 strings of the LED snow flake icicle lights from Creative Displays. The work is ALL worth while when we see the smiles and hear the positive comments. I had a co worker tell me today I was nuts for spend all the money and time on our dispaly. I thought how sad that money is that important to him. I would rather make memories to have in my later years and have the enjoyment of sharing a hobby with my husband.
This prayer has help me have the right attitude this year. It is hanging in my garage and I read more then once a day. It is my most important display tool I have. It is more important than my LOR controller, my mile of extension cords, my Kill-A-Watt meter, and my over two mile of lights.
Thank you from the bottom of my sweating, stinky, and sore feet for posting this prayer.
Thank you! I'm glad to hear your encouraging word about my prayer. I needed that this week. A grinch showed up at our house. Our freezer was broken in to this week and about $60.00 worth of meat was taken. The freezer was on our lighted back porch. We are in the mist of remodeling our home and it was put there until there was room in the garage for it. I believe it happened 2:30 a.m. Tuesday Morning. My Chihuahua barked but I thought the cats startled him. If they would have asked I would have gave them what they needed. We are a little concerned. If someone is gutsy enough to walk down our drive way and onto our back porch what will they do to our display? Please keep my Husband, Chuck (Cmoore) and I in your prayers. That we can keep the attitude of the prayer in our hearts as finalize our display on Friday.
