Careful - or you won't be getting one of my free LED necklaces.
It's not about finding an airport with low-fare airline service.
It's more about finding an airport that you can get to, preferably, non-stop.
As such, the only airport in the south that meets this criterion is Atlanta.
You can get there non-stop from almost anywhere in the US, plenty of convention space, hotels and amenities. And you won't need to rent a car if you don't want to.
Not that I'm promoting Atlanta but it's better than anything else I've heard mentioned so far. (Unless you want to have it in Miami. )
Las Vegas is very expensive., It was tried in 2004 and due to unions etc. cost was prohibitive. As Dan Hall and Jeff Womack who tried their level best to make it happen.

Even though past PLUS have been a certain size and the last one being an "in between size" stuck between hotels and big convention centers, It has come to my attention that Computerized Christmas displays numbers exploded this year (Xmas 2007) exponetially and believe they will be way bigger and better than ever for 2008. You might find that as the word gets out on PLUS and what it is (which it will), that attendance for 09 is going to be really really big.

I agree, my feeling is that there will be a huge interest in attending.
