I'd love to see PLUS in Frankenmuth as well.  I've been there...and it is a beautiful area.

After a few hours of research, I must say that Frankenmuth looks like a great place to have it! I am a Central New Yorker so it wouldnt be a bad drive at all

Don't take this the wrong way...I know bronners is a business and they host a lot of daily visitors...

But are the equipped to host 500-1000 of "our kind" all at once?...

I know I would not be able to control myself...I would be on christmas overload and lose my mind...and have 500 enablers there....

It may be too much temptation...

I may be wrong but I don't think anyone was suggesting that we hold PLUS at Bronner's jus tin Frankenmuth so they can get to Bronner's.  Am I right?

I seriously doubt that Bronner's would have the facilities to host an event like PLUS.

Bronners does not have that capability, but the Bavarian Inn or Zhenders may.  Not been to Frankenmuth in a while though, just my memory.

Any facility, regardless of location,  will need classrooms, a large vendor area (we had right around 6000 sq ft at PLUS2007 for just the vendors), banquet facilities and much more.

I sure hope all of you who are predictin attendance at 500-1000 are correct.  That would be wonderful.

I like this idea, but from my understanding the vendor's are a large part of what makes PLUS possible. If we hold the event within close proximity of the world's largest christmas store is this going to hurt our vendor participation?

We may possibly be able to get bronners to help us out or even a cool special discount lol BUT why would we want to do this and take away from the companies that have helped us get to where we are.

I vote for Frankenmuth / Bronners, mainly because I am less then 3 hours away, I can't make anything further until next year,

Tapped out funds on LED and on 10 more controllers on this coming saturday.  I have since given up eating food to save money, so I can't afford to come if it is any futher away.  Maybe my wish will come true and it will be at Frankenmuth this year and I will have the best present of all, meeting all of you, people just like me.

Chris,

The PLUS2009 isn't until 2009, not this year. You have time to save after the LED purchase  :].

Thought you might want to know,

Tom

I know some will say nah, but...

Having PLUS2009 in Oklahoma City would be pretty central. With all the surrounding states, the total membership is 433. That's a PLUS already :].

That's just to cross the state line. :waycool:

It makes it easier for the West coast members to attend which would be the same as the East coast members. I said easier, not easy .

We have the Bricktown/Downtown area all in one spot with at least a half a dozen hotels within walking distance. Then there is the Cox Convention Center right in the middle with a million sq ft of space to have the PLUS in (go ahead, look it up). Then the night time entertainment in Bricktown with the water taxi in the river walk canal and a nice varity of family things to do. I bet I could get a special on the water taxis and maybe even let us decorate a couple boats in the name of Planet Christmas. We work side by side so it's not impossible.

There is a lot to do in Oklahoma City for family members and such that didn't want to attend the PLUS.

It's just a thought but,

Tom

Oh, I just relized it said 2009, I just figured out that PLUS is every two years, I assumed it was every year.  Now I am a little sad :(  I still have to give up eating though to save for more christmas stuff.

There is no way that bronners could host PLUS. And will hit hurt the vendors? haha-no. in bronners, there is only a little (i mean LITTLE compared to the rest of the store) section in the back of the store that is for Christmas Lights. Apperently that wasn't a big seller for them, so the one room became a little less than a room. That is for regular lights, now if you are looking for lampost stuff-than yea they are throughout the store. so basically-it wont hurt the vendors.

There are tons of places in the area, but  I dont have the time to go researching right now for a place, but i did find this: http://www.frankenmuth.org/fc/home.nsf/public/13DE36B46FE8B99C85256F8100771138?OpenDocument

Wherever plus is, its gunna be SWEET!:waycool:

Has anyone considered Santa Clause, Indiana?  The Christmas theme is definitely profound in that area and if it is held during the summer there are a large number of activities to do that are family related (i.e. Holiday World).

If nothing in Frankenmeuth were big enough, keep in mind Sagnaw is not that far away.  Wold still be near Bronners but being  in a bigger city, the odds of having an appropriate size hotel get better.

Speculation on where PLUS2009 will be held is a bit premature.  Although I appreciate everyone's suggestions, in reality, it's a very complex equation because of our event size and the requirement of a family-friendly environment for the non-registrants that are pulled along with the attendees.  We also have to factor in accessibility for our vendors.

I anticipate a potential list of cities to be circulated mid-year.  Until then... stay tuned!

I say Atlanta...heres why....

1. Hartsfield Jackson airport nearby most U.S. Cities can be reached in 2 hours with many carriers. 26 carriers....Busiest airport that handles many people.

2. The Georgia World Congress Center or the Americas Mart to host the PLUS and they have classroom type things available as well as large areas for vendors and eating

3. The World of Coke , The new Ga Aquarium nearby,  and Centennial Olympic Park and fountains

4. Great weather

5. Great night life

6. Hotels in all price ranges

7. cabs or walking available and rental car services

8. Great food and grits....hehe

9. Southern hospitality

10. and I live here....

I have to agree with two of the suggestions so far--Atlanta GA or Myrtle Beach, SC.  either way there is tons to do, and either way it is a 3 hour drive from my place.

Unless ya'll want to have it out in the country--No hotels, but plenty of camping and hunting/fishing :}  Wishful thinking I know!!!
