I'm sure it will be a huge success and great fun.  SO much so you'll want to do another or someone that attends will see how great it is and offer to host the next one.  That's how it all started in Texas.  We had one, someone volunteered to host the next, and the next until we got to where we are today.

Take lots of pictures and share the fun.

Wouldn't it be great if there were local events held every month, every year?  No that's a goal we could all try to make happen.  Remember, size doesn't matter, just keep the ideas and good will going.

Not very convenient for almost everyone, but wouldn't it be cool (literally and figuratively) to hold it in North Pole, Alaska? The kids would love it.

I'm biased toward west coast since I'm in San Diego.

I would also vote for Salt Lake City so we can see RichardH's display.

Last time i flew the Omaha airport had some decent fairs here in Nebraska. In Grand Island we have a new event center thats a pretty good size. We can fit most of the kids in the city in it on Halloween (we have a good size city too). We are also centralized in the country. In fact the exact middle between Boston and San Francisco is in Kearny (40 miles west of Grand Island) :}

Even though we are not a little bit off topic as far as where to hold the even I am going to say it needs to be near a family friendly vacation spot.  I know my wife will not come to PLUS with me and with two young children she needs something to do while I am getting all christmassed up... This is why I didn't attend PLUS2007

Ideas for locations for me would be near something like Disney (Land or World)

I do like the idea of Bronners but that leaves the family out of the picture, Not sure I would take my children to Myrtle beach either...  For me it has to be a place that I can take a week off, get 3 days of Christmas, 4 days of Family, and 4-7 nights of family too...

That's the point I've been trying to make....

I have two questions....

1.what do you not like about Myrtle beach...just curious...

2.what would be some other destinations you would like to take your family...name at least 5...other than disney...

Every location will have its pluses and minuses.

No matter what, we will all defend our home cities as to why they would be great for a PLUS event. Thats totally normal. Then there are those of us that dont care where its at.

Most cities have water parks, history places, great parks and night life for visitors. The big factor is...The city chosen has to be able to handle the PLUS needs for space, crowds, walkability, hotels, convenience, and, also be family friendly.

I think i can safely say that I think that it depends on the month of year the PLUS will be in. If its a summer month....Then any beach city will already crowded with tourists...and even the Disney cities too. That would be impractical to go there with prices raised in the summer for the tourists and then the factor of crowds and getting a hotel room to be available without the prices be jacked up. Now If it was a different time of the year, it would be fine to choose a beach city. So im not knocking any beach city at all....Im just saying the time of the year has a huge impact in regards to tourists and crowds there already.

If it were me....id say to look into these cities for a PLUS...

1. Atlanta, Ga

2. Chattanooga, TN

3. Kansas city, Mo

4. San Diego, Ca

5. Pittsburgh, Pa

6. Asheville, NC

7. Austin. Tx

8. Richmond, Va

9. Scottsdale, Az

10. Springfield, Il

Wow Michelle!  That's a pretty random list!  Where did these come from (aside from Atlanta, which you have explained in previous posts)?  Seriously curious.

Some of those look like they are going to be very HOT during the summer.  PLUS is held during the summer when the kids are out of school so more people can attend.

I don't care where PLUS is, I have no dog in this hunt.  Besides for reference Austin TX is less than 60 MIles from me.   I was simply pointing out that places like Arizona, Texas, and Tennessee get very hot in the summer.  There is hot, then there is very HOT.

PLUS being during the summer was mentioned by someone else earlier in the thread.  That is when most families and this is a family event, hopefully, take vacations.  The last three where held in July early August timeframe.

I have to say that i wasnt trying to make anyone mad at my above comments. I was simply stating that anywhere you go in the summer is hot..Some places have humidity to add in too...It wasnt personal.

No one has mentioned Colorado!  I have not been to most of the cities that have been listed.  So, I have nothing against any of them.   Now some will say, "He only likes Colorado because he lives in Greeley".  I can only leave my house for 4-5 hours at a time.  There is very little chance of my attending Plus, even if it is ever held in Colorado.  That said, I think most folks would have a great time in Colorado Springs/Manitou Springs.  One would want to rent a car, I think.  There is much to do with kids.  Right at the base of Pikes Peak, probably one of the cooler (temp.) of the large cities in Co.  Airport, not sure of the quality, but Denver has DIA just an hour away by I-25.  Lots of motels and hotels, many with the ability to handle large groups and conventions.  A very church centered city, might get some kind of support from them?  I don't know for sure, but my impression is that it can be very affordable.  I haven't visited Colorado Springs in 15 years.  Here is a list of some of the attractions:

1.  Air Force Academy, not sure of accessibility these days

2. Cave of the Winds, used to have a laser show

3. Garden of the Gods

4. Cheyenne Mountain Zoo

5. Cog rail train to top of Pikes Peak

6. Olympic training center

7. Rodeo Hall of Fame used to be there, may still be

8. Seven Falls

9. North Pole, a small Christmas theme/amusement park, I hope it is still open

10. For those with big $, The Broadmoor Hotel

11. Cliff dwellings

12. Royal Gorge Bridge, ask someone before you go, you may decide not to

13. and many other historic and geological attractions

BTW, I do not work for the State Tourist Agency.

Where ever it is held, I am sure you will have fun.

I did not find my comments to be rude at all. I was trying to interject a little humor at what appeared to be a subject that was lacking in the "respect" department.

Sorry if I offened anyone, I just thought that if someone says they are not going to attend then maybe, just maybe they would refrain from commenting on other people suggestions.

As far as the weather goes hot is hot and since this PLUS thing is held indoors what difference would it make. Besides I always heard that the heat out west is a "dry" heat.

Once again, I am so sorry if I stepped on toes or bruised egos. It was not my intention to do either.

Ultimately, Chuck will decide where the PLUS is held.

In all fairness... I would hope he would take some more "unknown" PC peoples opinions and also get a few new people on the "steering committee" as well. :D

The PLUS will be held indoors no mater what the weather is. Even rain could ruin an event, so that wont even be a factor when its indoors. I agree.

You cant please all the people all the time...Some people cant be in altitudes, some in heat, some in smog.......so it will just be up to the individual if they can come when the city is named.
