Wow--that's very cool!  The how to says that he used red LEDs but the video looks like orange/amber color to me.

That's really cool Ron!  How many LEDs are in that design?  (I'm lazy and don't want to do the math!!!)

I have GOT to build one of those!  That is the coolest!

What's the total cost all said and done?  Did the coop order for the board get done?  If so, I want one!

Yes jeff the Allegro chips seem to work better  the require less voltage (3-5 v)

also my laptop runs this with them.

How much hmm    $75 is close but I have enough parts to build 2

controllers Just need more leds

We did a proto type  order now that we know it works we will do a co-op.

Soon.

I'll be building one.

Add 1 to the 'people who expressed interest' co-op order for me!

Since the new controller cards seem to be able to control up to 4 panels, did anyone consider making the holes a bit bigger and putting in 3 leds (R, B, G).  Control them as if they were 3 panels, but using 3 colors to get full color resolution?

BTW,  since I've never put a circuit board together, I'm assuming the coop is for the blank board and you need to solder components into the 300 holes.

Is that correct?

The LEDs are either on or off (no dimming), so you would only get eight colors if you were to use RGB LEDs in the way that you suggest.

As for coop/soldering question, the answer is yes.

Ron, those panels look great.  I'll have to consider building one for next year.  I assume, being controlled by Vixen, that I could have it display the current track?
