I am planning to build a Grinch as my first light control project. Since it is non-dimming without building the REN-C and REN-T, I'm wondering what display elements work well without dimming and what works only with dimming?
I would like to have a mega-tree, house outlined a few bushes and trees lit, a handful of mini-trees and some reindeer ect. If I can find the time/skill I may try animating a few simple things like a santa waving.
Everything should still work fine without dimming. You can make a very nice display with just on and off, and it’s much easier to sequence. The only thing I can think of is, just don’t get too carried away with turning things on and off; especially with white. You don’t want to cause anyone to go epileptic on you. Animation can add to your display, but too much of a good thing can turn on you.

The only real difference between a dimming and non dimming display is the music selection. there are songs out there that just don't flow right without dimming.
Buzz,
Check out the videos on my site from 2006. No dimming. They are not the greatest but it will gove you an idea of some of the display elements you are looking for without dimming. The link is in my sig, ChristmasInShirley.com
