Completing a Controller - DIY Direct Control of Hardware. Read Only. No more posting. - PlanetChristmas! Forums. Read Only. We've moved to http://talk.planetchristmas.com - The Forums of PlanetChristmas have moved to http://talk.PlanetChristmas.com
I'm planning on putting my Christmas lights to music this year and have been scouring the DIY sites for pointerS, needed materials, etc. I was all set to build my own controller, and may still do it, but some prebuilt controllers have become available.
I have purchased one and this is what I was told I would need to finish it off .. mounting case, a heatsink if desired, and cords to attach to the outputs. I will also need to have a PC connection cable (a RS485 adaper, or a DB9 to RJ45 adapter)
The controller is a Renard 24 channel and I'm not planning on adding a heat sink so I will be at 1 AMP/Channel. I have the cords, but I'm wondering where I connect the neutrals. The positives are connected to the board with screw down terminals.
I was told I could use a neutral bar/buss bar to connect them to, but I don't really know what that is. Does this get mounted in whatever case I purchase for this?
I'm also wondering what kind of case to get as there will be 24 power cords/leads coming from the board as well as the computer connection/cable and the main power lead to the board. Any suggestions here would be greatly appreciated.
The computer connection will then be the next thing to deal with, acquire, construct, etc.
Any help, pointers, tips, advice would be greatly appreciated.
